place your obscure (and probably painfully unrealistic) predictions for the 2012 NBA Season here. These things are always fun to look back on whether you're right or wrong.

Mine:

Eddy Curry will be a valuable member of the Miami Heat and will eventually find himself in a starting role.

The Heat will only lose 8 games in the regular season.

This will be Kobe Bryants last year as a Laker.

Rookie Kenneth Faried will end up starting for the Nuggets.

Kemba Walker will win Rookie of the year.

Derrick Rose will win his second straight MVP Award.

Glen Davis will have a HUGE year for the Magic.

Dwight Howard will be traded to the Nets mid season but they will not make the play offs. The Magic will.

The Thunder will get a number one seed in the west.

The Lakers won't make it out of the first round (more of a hope than a prediction)

E'Twaun Moore will play valuable minutes for the Celtics and and will be considered the steal of the draft by seasons end.

Greg Oden will start over 50 games for the Blazers.

The Pacers will finish with a top 5 record in the east.

Eric Gordon will be a legit MVP canidate.

The Rockets will make the play offs and Kevin McHale will be named coach of the year.

The Clippers will struggle more than people think.

The Timberwolves will start 5 point guard on opening day.

All i've got for now. Going to bed now. Will dream of more ridiculous thoughts and post them in the A.M.

One last thing.......The Boston Celtics will go up against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA finals and win in a dramatic 7 game series. Rajon Rondo will earn Finals MVP  ;D

I think Kyrie Irving has the RoY award locked up. I don't see any challengers.

What's the difference between bold predictions and baseless conjectures though?

Seriously, sifting through the constant mockery and doom and gloom from 90% of people on this site is really impeding my enjoyment of celtic talk. Especially after the notice from the guys who run the site. By the way, i think those are actually some pretty wise predictions.

all i can say is welcome to the internet.  it's actually really tame and friendly here at CB.  i don't know how many other message boards you've posted on, but really, this place is amazing, even when there's a generally negative mood cause disappointing / sad / infuriating things are happening and the team isn't even playing yet.

seriously, though, i could see the mchale COTY thing maybe happening, and it's possible that Kemba could win RoY just cause it's a weak field, but otherwise . . . the Thunder being a number one seed is a safe prediction.  Very likely imo.  Uhm . . . Kenneth Faried could start a few games for the Nuggets just cause they lack depth at PF.

So there you go.

So there you go.

(1) McHale CoY = If the Rockets get Dalembert, I think this is a possibility. One of those under-rated signings both in terms of individual talent + effect on collective, how Dalembert rounds out that starting five. Without Dalembert, the Rockets would be pinning their hopes on Thabeet and he looks too raw to answer that call (this season, no. next season, yes).

(2) Faried should have no problem taking the starting gig from Al Harrington. Maybe not straight out of camp but he'll definitely take it at some point. Gallinari and Harrington is a very difficult duo to play together at forward due to their combined weakness on defense/rebounding. Then Nene too who can't rebound. The Nuggets desperately need a Faried in that starting unit to give them some more balance + need Harrington's scoring off the bench with W.Chandler and JR Smith elsewhere.

I would be VERY surprised if D. Rose got another MVP award, unless he somehow took his game to another level. Honestly, he didn't even really deserve the MVP award last season, he is a massively overrated player (I am not saying he isn't good, mind you, but he is more pretty to watch than actually efficient).

agreed.  the MVP award is 90% about the media narrative surrounding the player throughout the season.  that's the first, second, and third reason Rose won the award last season.  the fourth reason was because he played really well statistically -- but so did plenty of other players.

inevitably, some other player will have his "turn" being the media darling this year as the best player on a top team.  i think Kevin Durant makes sense.  if the Mavs really blow the league away, though, Dirk could win it again.

it's entirely possible that Chris Paul could win it, too, if the Clips have a top 5 record.  that seems pretty unlikely to me, though.

* Celtics will do better than people expect

* Rondo's offensive production will be better than last year.

* LeBron and Bosh will win their first ring.

* Lakers will not finish in the top 4 in West.

* CP3 will not play 66 games for LAC.

* MWP will punch Kobe or Mike Brown.

Dwight Howard will blow out his knee around halfway through the season paving the way for KG to get his 2nd defensive player of the year award. Remember you saw it here first.

I think d rose will be the best since Jordan. I've never seen anybody play like him.
