Celtics still better than Knicks?

The Knicks now have the advantage in the starting frontcourt. But the Celtics backcourt of Rondo and Ray still dominates whatever combo the Knicks throw out there.

I know the Celtics bench is sort of weak but I feel like even with no Jeff Green our depth is a little better than the Knicks who have a weak  bench.

I feel like if the C's stay healthier than Knicks, we should get the #3 seed. Our team is old but Stoudemire and Chandler have injury history as well and Bibby is old. Thoughts? Who is better right now?

in a condensed 66 game season i have a feeling the knicks will have a better record.  they have more impact young guys and their 3 best players are in their prime (under 31).  i think a condensed season tends to favor teams with multiple potent scoring options, and that means the knicks have an advantage.  it's harder to play good team basketball and find guys who are open when everybody is tired.  conversely, easier to take advantage of tired defenders if you have really good one-on-one scorers.  amare / melo will win quite a few games by themselves (same applies to LeBron / Wade).

in the playoffs, im not so sure who will be better.  health may determine that question more than relative talent on either roster, though.

Yup it's barely sinking in on me how bad the schedules are its going to suck for veteran teams. I don't think there is much rest either between the season and playoffs. Then in the early rounds back to backs.

I disagree that the Knicks will be better than the C's or that they even have three young offensive options. Chandler is a lot of things but unless a good PG is getting him easy looks right under the basket, his offense is fairly limited. Heck, I saw an article that said their sixth man is injured. That sixth man's name: Bill Walker.

Amar'e and Melo couldn't go far last year with a better bench and Chauncey at PG on the outside. This year they have no PG and Walker is their sixth man? Chandler is a great defensive center but with a coach that doesn't stress defense and who runs an offensive system predicated on having a very good passing PG that can shoot from the outside, I don't see NY being any better than last year.

That would be interesting to say the least. But I do think the Knicks will win the division this year.

Depends on who the Knicks pick up with their midlevel.  Also, if they get Baron davis we could be in big trouble.   In the end though I think Amare's health is a big concern and they also won't be as well coached as the Celtics I think we have a slight edge, but Chandler certainly does make their frontline imposing..

Never saw any sense in NY or anyone waiting on a 40 year old PG to help you win it, not when your core guys are in their mid to late 20s.

Moot point though as ESPN just went live with a story about NY agreeing to terms with Baron Davis.

Barron is nowhere near the player he was, but I think this signing definitely will give the Knicks the atlantic division championship.

chauncey could not have come back.  you aren't allowed to re-sign an amnestied player within the same season.
