Danny didn't lie....he said it was all about what perspective you put on it.....meaning life vs basketball.....from the life perspective it was fortunate it was detected and can be corrected with surgery

On Monday, Ainge said the Green medical thing was "not a major concern." Considering the guy has to have heart surgery and will miss at least a year of basketball, I would say that is one huge misstatement if it is not a lie.

The scary part is that in most people who don't undergo thorough physicals like NBA players do, this would probably have never been detected until it was too late.

Listen to you two go back and forth.  It's comical.  Whats next my father is better than your father?..lol..Thank you for the amusement on cold December day!
I wish Jeff Green all the best and a speedy recovery. Glad they caught it when they did.

But as I'm sitting here my blood is BOILING. What did we really trade our starting center for? Why did we destroy our teams chemistry? What did we get in return? A Clippers first round pick in 2012?? I'm literally sick to my stomach.

I don't know that I will ever be able to forgive Danny Ainge for this. Dramatic perhaps, but true. I don't see myself getting over this any time in the near future. Everything that has occurred from last years trade deadline up til now has been nothing short of pure disaster.

And the karma theory? Never thought of it that way but you just might be right.

Anyone who watched the Thunder in the playoffs last year could see that Perkins had not recovered enough from his knee injury to be an effective defender. His lateral movement was gone, he would not have made a difference for us in the playoffs, and going forward, we were not going to re-sign him. People have to get over this feeling of betrayal they have of the Perkins trade and look at the facts. We lost because we had no backup wings who could defend, because Rondo played with one arm after Wade's dirty takedown, and because our bench was immature and had chemistry issues.

That Perkins who didn't completely recover from his knee injury was better than Shaq, JO and Nenad Krstic combined. Let's be serious here. The center position was an embarrassment last year. JO would have been a good back up for Perk.

Danny put all his eggs in the Shaq basket and it was a disaster. Period.

you can insist all you want to, but it wasn't the center postion that cost us the heat series last year, it was lack of defenders at the 2-3 spots. That's why Ainge traded for Green, and honestly, Green failed at that job last season. Wade and Lebron killed us, and so did our bench, not the starting center spot. That's why getting Daniels back this year is huge imo.

no, teh team got absolutely wrecked by Joel Anthony in Games 1-4 last year.  Don't think Perkins would've changed that?

Yes, Wade and Lebron "killed us."  Wanna know why? BECAUSE THEY'RE GREAT PLAYERS.  Joel Anthony is not a great player.  And Joel Anthony doing the damage he did on us, the first four games of the series was an absolute difference maker.

Oh, and you are also conveniently leaving out the fact that the chemistry on this team imploded almost immediately after the trade.  Important tidbit there too.

The year we won, Lebron and Kobe never killed us, we made them look bad, because we had great defenders like Posey and Tony Allen. That's what cost us the most the last 2 years, not the center spot. Joel Anthony? I guess you didn't watch the games much.

You're right. I don't watch teh games.  I only have season tickets, and own about 1,000 Celtics games on DVD, and have probably been a fan longer than you've been alive.

I don't like wasting my time.  But I will here.  I'll educate you a litle bit.  That "year we  won"  uhhhh, I seem to remember, you know, since I was at the game - Lebron nearly scoring 50 in a deciding Game 7.  Did he struggle with his shooting at times? Yes, but not in Game 7.  And certainly not in Game 4 when he threw a dunk down on the whole team.  Oh, and also, Mr. Watch All the Games.  Tony Allen was at the bottom of the bench in 2008.  Did he help us defensively in 2010? Big time. Not 2008.  Btw, we had Tony Allen and we let him go for nothing.  So our response is to trade a far more important piece for a guy to replace Tony Allen?? Great!

Oh, and also Mr. Watch the Games.  How did we lose Game 4 to Miami? You know, the game that changed the complexition of the series? The game, that, had we won - that series likely would've gone to a deciding Game 7? ON AN OFFENSIVE REBOUND!!! hey!

At the risk of making everyone angry, I have to say that you guys are more of an old lady than I am, living too much in the past...

They have caught Jeff Green's problem early, he will be treated and can live a long healthy life...and may even be able to return to basketball.

While we all hoped Green would come out this season and prove why he should be a starter on the Celtics, there was no assurance of that.

In the public scrimmage last night, there were a lot of positive things happening, some of our new young guys have a nice soft shooting touch, rebounded, looked relatively comfortable on the floor, and should be able to contibute this year.

Danny still has a sliver of room to make another move.

I am not willing to declare the Celtics a lottery team yet.

I have not seen one post anywhere predicting the Celts will be a lottery team this year.

I was at the scrimmage last night. JuJuan Johnson has a nice jump shot. That is it right now. He won't be able to defend anyone. Chris Wilcox looked good playing against JO who seemed to be operating at 1/2 speed at best. Brandon Bass looked good, but really had no one defend any of his shots. E'twaun Moore, hard to say. He hit some shots. Stiemsma did nothing, Sweetney is fat and will be gone, Brown did nothing to excite me, and Pierce and Garnett, along with Sasha did not even participate because they are nursing injuries. Finally, Avery Bradley stunk -- worst player on the floor. The best player of the night was Daniels.

So no, not a lottery team, but a 4-6th seed that will exit the playoffs early.

Link to Cleveland Clinic where he will have the surgery. I am assuming it is in the chest and not the abdomen since that is the only reason he would go the the Cleveland Clinic.

Prayers for a speedy and full recovery.

This stinks.

I may not have thought Green was a great fit for the Celtics bench, there is no way to replace his value at this point.

Nor can the Celtics replace his trade value (including his 9 million in trade cap value)

Even before the scrimmage I put the Celts in the 3-4th seed. Now, without Green, who they were counting on to be the 6th man, I see 4th through 6th. So, I really have not changed my outlook that much.

Sounds reasonably good for Jeff Green under the circumstances.

They expect a full recovery and for him to be able to return to pro sports. Good news.

No one but meused the term "lottery team" that I noticed, but that is what "tearing up the team" means to me... I wasn't at the practice, I watched it on line, and I realize that I may not be the most astute judge of talent on the blog, and I do realize that it was just a scrimmage, not a game against an NBA  team, but I thought there was a lot to praise on the team.  For one thing, Marquis looked as strong as I can remember...good job coming back from the surgery, Quis.  I thought Bass looked good for the amount of practice they have had...nice soft jumper, too. Wilcox did too. (Maybe they can just bring Avery in in the last two minutes of a game to make a winning shot,  ;) ).  I also thought Moore looked promising.

What I  was trying to say is that (my favorite player) Kendrick Perkins is not coming back.  We are not a lottery team yet.  Time to figure out the future, not rehash the past or pick at old wounds.  Just my opinion.

...and everyone will be waiting for that moment when the worst case scenario unfolds.  Fair or unfair, Green will never be the same player and has "high risk" now attached to his name.  Really feel for the guy...

I am thankful that they caught this now and wish Jeff Green a speedy recovery. Whether he plays basketball again is the least of my concerns. My prayers go out to him and is family and I hope the   media respects their privacy.

I do not fault Danny for trying deflect attention away from prying eyes earlier this week. A 25 year old man was told his whole life as he knows might be changing. Dealing with the media and fans was probably the last thing his family and himself needed.
