"George, who grew 2 inches to 6-10 during the offseason, is putting in the time to make sure his skills progress. One tactic the 21-year-old has adopted is to routinely be one of the first players on the practice court and one of the last ones off it.

Catch and shoot. Pump fake, one dribble, pull up. Launch 3-pointers from the five key spots on the perimeter. Over and over again.

"It's the extra time you put on the court that pays off down the road," said George, who also has added 10 pounds of muscle to his lanky 224-pound frame. "I'm ready to take the next step."" - Indianapolis Star

Man, those Pacers could become a pretty serious team fairly quickly. George is an absolute physical specimen - a 6'10 234 pound shooting guard who is athletic enough to semi-effectively guard Derrick Rose? Jeez. He's got offensive limitations that he's apparently working on but that's something to get excited about in Indy.

Darren Collison, George Hill, Paul George, Brandon Rush, Danny Granger, David West, Tyler Hansbrough, Roy Hibbert and Jeff Foster makes for one of the youngest, balanced, versatile and deepest 9-man rotations in the league come playoff time.

They aren't a contender yet, but this is a Pacers team that I could see pulling an upset in the playoffs, or even working its way into a 5 seed. If the young guns develop anywhere near their potential (Collison, George, Granger, Hibbert), this team could be something special.

I heard, but I didn't believe it. If this is true that's one tantalizing basketball prospect. I think he's going to be really good, he's more of a 3 than a 2 though. He's one guy that I really liked in last years draft and he was projected to be in our range until his draft stock skyrocketed.

yeah, that's cool, but it's hard to see him playing SG now.  growing that much in a short time is not necessarily a good thing for a player.  for some guys it's really great (e.g. kevin durant, 7 foot small forward).  for others, it's just awkward (donte greene, 6'11'' SG / SF).

Wish Avery Bradley would grow to 6'5 that'd be a very pleasant surprise.

Ditto.

Why can't Avery Bradley grow 2 more inches???

i'd be cool with Bradley *shrinking* two inches if it meant he had a greatly improved handle / court vision.

I've got him on one of my fantasy teams as well. As long as George Hill doesn't take much time from him, he should see decent minutes. He had a double-double in the Pacers' first preseason game, which is promising.

in other news, Perkins somehow stole Al Jefferson's body. The thunder were sure it was Perkins because he still brings the ball down before shooting and scowls at everyone in sight.

I was just thinking about this today. He's been bringing the ball down forever, and if he could fix that his offense would be smoother. He needs to go right up with the ball when he catches it!

Paul George sounds like a Kevin Durant type of player in the making. A big man who can handle, shoot, pass and now probably hit the boards. Guy has a bright future ahead of him. Larry loves him.

Wow.  That's a big two inches, creates that KD kind of nightmare matchup.

Indiana is a team to watch this year no doubt.  A lot of talent.

He has a McGrady kind of build.

Good all around, maybe he'll take the next step this year and become a dynamic scorer.

Indy had a guy like that --- Jonathan Bender.

George, if he stays healthy, is going to be a very good player.  Bird has set the Pacers up with some nice young players - George, Collison, Hill, Hansborough to o with all star Granger.  Pencil them in for a 7th seed.

Kind of a weird comparison. Donte Greene's 'awkwardness' seems to have a lot less to do with his size or athletic ability and a lot more to do with his bball IQ and questionable motor. Also, did either guy grow two inches in their 2nd-3rd year in the league?

I know LeBron did, but I don't really remember any others. Maybe its just so common nobody talks about it.
