we are going to blow it up

...next year

Agreed. That's why all the FAs that were signed were on one year deals. Danny believes there is one more year left in the Big Three's "window" and then will see what the offseason brings. Cs will have a lot of cap space to play with.

Also, if stuff goes really south this year with injuries, then the Cs could be very active at the March trade deadline.
Celtics fan for life.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If the Dallas team of last year can win the whole thing, then the Celtics team of this year can do the same.
*We still have what is all round the best starting 4 players on one team.
*We have a bench that is much stronger. We have more muscle inside.
*We have a back up PG that can run the team and the bench.
*We have Jeff Green after 6 months of learning how things work.
*We have Bass and Wilcox coming in, hitting jumpshots and taking it hard to the paint much more effectively than Big Baby. These guys are both better than Baby, Powe, PJ brown
(any of the scrubs we've had in the past few years). This is crucial to giving KG and JO rest.
*We have a plan to rest our starters a lot more.
*Jermaine Oneal is much healthier now than he was last year-he will be solid. If we can get him to the playoffs without major injury we are in a MUCH better position than last year with this bench to back him and KG up.

-The Knicks got better, but they are a few pieces away from ever threatening us in a 7 game series with a bench like ours this year.
- the Lakers got worse.
-The Heat added a few guys, but nothing that scares me.
-The Bulls have Rip Hamilton- this is great when Ray has to guard him and be guarded by him- we don't lose a speed advantage in the playoffs.

Think about how we go if Rondo's arm and Shaqs foot didn't explode last year.

Our overall squad is tougher and deeper than our 2008 squad.
Danny has prepared us for war.

Like I said. If the Mavs can win with Dirk, Terry, Marion, Kidd and Chandler, then we have a good shot this year.

War is coming.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

jesus dude, if you're gunna talk "blowing it up", can you at least provide some solid cap-flexibility and get us some decent value in the trades?

The Rondo one is solid, although maybe too much coming our way for Minny to go for it

Why are we trading KG who is expiring for a terrible contract and a pick that won't be worth our while (you actually think they would trade that as an unprotected pick, assuming Howard gets dealt, which I don't know if you've read much, but he apparently is not...)

The Allen trade is insulting, and the Pierce trade is a lateral move at best.....

Here's an idea on "blowing it up"

Stop whining about our team getting older.....

recognize the fact that KG, Allen, and JO are off the books by the end of the season anyway, so they can walk and we have actual cap-space to work with in 2012/13.....let the team play it out as is, and next season maybe KG/Allen come decide to come back at discounted rates because they both actually want to be here, and we get to throw max-money at whomever we choose, rather than being stuck with the Hedo Turkeyglues of the world

you don't blow it up before a season starts anyway.....KG/Allen become more valuable as expiring contracts when the trade deadline approaches, especially because they are contributing players. They are some of the only good things to happen to this team in the last decade and you want to throw them out like last weeks garbage....

BANISH THE OP

Celtics were rebuilding team for 22 years. Who wants to go through that again? We finally have a great team with HOF players. This may not be our year as far as championship. But hey, chill and enjoy the ride.

I agree with this, as well.  We probably won't win, but I'd prefer to watch three legitimate greats of NBA history play, along with a young stud PG, rather than another team praying for lottery balls.

Co-sign.  I am in absolutely no rush to go back to pre-2007.  We know it is most likely coming at some point, but the longer we can put it off (without taking away the flexibility to reload if the opportunity presents itself), the better.

Ditto.

It's been blown up before, and if it weren't for two teams selling stars for pennies on the dollar, we wouldn't have had a route out of the original mess that rebuilding became.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

110% agree! People don't realize that a #1 choice isn't a guaranteed franchise savior. The sad part is that half of this board feels the same general way as the OP...just play the season and see what happens.

Although in regards to that Rondo trade for Love...if Khan was ever stupid enough to do it I would personally drive up from FL to drive Rondo to MN.

It's a transition season.

All teams go through it.

You might have to hog tie him to get him there. He won't leave easily.

There is no need to blow it up. I see KG and RA coming back to contend at vet minimums if need be. They have already made their money so why not stay to contend for a season or two.
Signed to a 6 year $0 contract with the Celtics Blog forum!

Danny started this blow up process by making the OKC trade last year. That blew our chances to go to the NBA Finals in 2011 (where we probably would have lost to Dallas). Now Jeff Green is not available due to undisclosed health reasons. That is having me think (UGH Reggie Lewis 1993  :-X )

Could he be on the way to medical retirement a la Brando Roy?

I don't agree with any of the trade scenarios and we should keep our cap flexibility while competing this spring for glory's last shot or look for deadline deals for our expiring contracts and solid players for the future of the Celtics.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Are you just a troll as your signature suggests?
Please confirm you are.

Blowing up started with Perkins on one leg, unable to contribute and seeking way too much money for his limited abilities?

Wait and see what Jeff Green does this year before judging the trade.
And no, we don't make the finals with Perkins on one leg.
Probably not even with a healthy Shaq- our bench sucked.
Rondo losing an arm meant doomsday.

Just a long time poster with concerns and disagreement with the path taken by the team last year.
