Bass knows his limits...
...knows he has to work hard being undersized (and actually realizes he's undersized)
...respects and embraces our culture and our HOF'ers (unlike Chris Paul, which is the main reason I'm really not into the idea of getting him for Rondo)

Reminds me of Perk. Although Perk really took it to another level when he worked back from his injury last season. Tough, hard nosed, focused glue guy. Perhaps what we need to push us over the edge? (Aside from the intangibles, I'd bet that his production would go up per 36, too, since he won't have to share it with Dwight Howard).

Obviously compared to Glen Davis at this point, most anybody's a good locker room presence but Bass seems like a heck of a hard worker.

E'Twaun Moore (http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2011/12/12/etwaun-moore-impresses-in-first-day-of-practice/), Jajuan Johnson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f9R5t205Xg&feature=channel_video_title) and Keyon Dooling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRUIFpIG4f0&feature=channel_video_title) are also seemingly great pickups in terms of intangibles and/or on court production.

Smooge getting crazy props from Doc is inspiring. He's like Bass in that he's physically under average and that he works hell'a hard to overcome that.

These guys may not be the best in business but I can't say Nate, washed-up and beat-up 39 year old Shaq, Marquis Daniels...were either. Yet with those guys, we were the team to beat. I remember our chemistry was unmatched and we could have steamrolled any other team. I hope we get that Celtic brotherhood back with these pickups.

edit: More on Moore (and Bass)

“E’Twaun was one of the best players in the gym today, forget being a rookie,” said Rivers. “You all didn’t see the two scrimmages, but the white (team) won both scrimmages and he carried the games. He made the game-winning shot in the second one and just really ran the show in the first one.”

Interestingly enough, Moore isn’t the only second-round pick that joined the team today. Bass was also chosen in the second round, 33rd overall, out of LSU by the New Orleans Hornets. He has since worked himself into a player the Celtics now view as a critical piece to their season, and he thinks Moore can eventually do the same if he puts in the time.

“I did things that I knew other players didn’t want to do and I knew I didn’t even really want to do,” Bass said, explaining how he turned himself into the player that he is now. “Just working extra hard, putting extra time in the gym, and making basketball your life.”

Very promising stuff. Again, very impressed with Moore and Bass.

I like Bass because he's not bloated physically and mentally while bringing exactly what Glen Davis brings. My impression of the guy is that he just shuts up and works hard, like Perk did, and every team needs someone like that.

And I, too, like Dooling for his attitude and the fact that he can potentially mentor Moore and Bradley, both tweener guards. Too bad this pickup was way outshined by the Chris Paul disaster.

Suppose Big Baby got an attitude adjustment AND was suddenly money with his midrange jumper. That's Bass. I'll take it and I don't consider them to be equal players at all.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Bass and moore are both followers. They'll be wallflowers here, but the good kind. The kind that don't ask questions and give 100% all the time.

I like the new guys.  Like someone else mentioned, I really liked what I heard out of Keyon Dooling.  He seems like a smart guy who's grooming himself to be a coach one day.

I'm growing fonder and fonder of the 2011-2012 Celtics by the minute.  It looks like we have a good thing here.

SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I like Moore.  Mentally, I think he's a lot more ready than JJ.  Plays aggressive defense, has a lot of confidence, has a complete floor game.

Just needs to get that jumper smoothed out.  He'd go through stretches where it would completely abandon him and he'd brick just about everything.  Shot solid percentages regardless.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Because one is overweight while the other is a physical beast that can play above the rim.

my god....he's leon powe with good knees!!! i loved his rebound at about the 32 second mark of the video. based just on these clips, bass is obviously NOT afraid to mix it up and fight down under the basket.

the celtics desperately need someone who will do the dirty work of playing down low in the post.

bass is undersized, but he is strong and has very long arms. not an all star, but with rondo passing and KG drawing centers outside, bass will be able to play a defined and important role for the celtics.

thanks for the video. i am looking forward to this season.

Bass gave us some issues a few years ago in some guys.  He plays hard.
