Wow, the vet min? Sounds like Ainge didn't really want to keep Delonte.

I have no problem with Ainge preferring a player who is actually likely to play more games than Jermaine O'Neal this season.

Bummer but predictable for the past few weeks. Have to wonder if something happened between Delonte and Danny since Dallas basically offered him what Boston could have offered.

At least he got on a good team, will contend for a championship and probably play a big role. I hope he stays healthy!

It certainly appears the C's had no interest in bringing him back.  I'm thinking there might be more to his injury than we know.  Remember he was never fully recovered even after his return.

There were rumblings of issues behind the scenes wiht Delonte that the C's kept quiet. Perhaps they didn't want to deal with them this year in a compressed season?

I think this is the reason. I wish Delonte well, he seems to be doing great dealing with his bipolar disorder illness, but he did deck Von Wafer last year and I believe he had other issues with teammates that we don't hear about because the celtics respect him too much to let that stuff out.

He didn't "deck Von Wafer" (who isn't even on the team anymore), and there is nothing confirmed about other locker room issues.

Ultimately, however, he's replaceable -- and we're better served by someone who can give us 82 games at that position.

He did deck Von wafer, there were well publicized reports of their fight during practice last year. Maybe he tried the Tony Allen approach of beating up the guy ahead of you in the rotation and take their minutes.

from Kelly Dwyer:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Delonte-West-reportedly-throws-a-punch-at-Von-Wa?urn=nba-281113

"During a three-on-three game with Avery Bradley(notes), Luke Harangody(notes), Semih Erden(notes) and assistant coach Tyronn Lue(notes), West began fouling [Von] Wafer each time the reserve guard touched the ball. West was increasingly physical to the point that Wafer exited to the locker room midway through the game. As he walked away, West barked obscenities and taunted Wafer.

After Wafer had showered and sat down at his locker, West approached from behind and threw a punch. Wafer didn't see the punch coming but quickly got off of the ground and connected on two punches of his own. He then wrestled West to the ground before being separated by the team's veterans."
