Reportedly the Chris Paul deal is finally happening!  Chris Paul will be playing in the Staples Center!

Just not for the team that you think.

The reported package from the Clips includes Bledsoe, Aminu, Kaman, and the Timberwolves 2012 1st round pick.

There's no way the Hornets have any need for Kaman this year, and he's on the last year of his deal.  My question: is there any way at all the Celtics could possibly get him?

I'm not sure how we could make the salaries work, but we have the Clippers 1st round pick for next season, which isn't likely to be any higher than 15 considering this trade.  We could give that, or our own 1st round pick this year, in exchange for some team taking on JO and whoever else we would need to trade in order to make salaries match.

Is there any way to make it happen?  Would be fantastic if Danny could shoehorn us into this deal and get a legit starting center on a 1 year rental.

(1) Jeff Green at the trade deadline
(2) JO + Bass in a month's time, might need a pick attached to it

Also, I like that we'd need to wait awhile before going after Kaman. His health is a major risk. Three out of his last four seasons have ended prematurely. Being able (forced) to wait and monitor his health / performance is a plus.

yeah, i think waiting a month or so would be fine, given his health issues (he's a very solid player when healthy, much less so when not).  i wouldn't want to have to wait a lot longer than that, though.  We saw last year the importance of allowing time for new units to get comfortable with one another.

JO + Bass or Wilcox would be an acceptable deal to me.  I'd rather not give up the chance to re-sign Green just to take on a center we probably won't re-sign after the season.
