Thoughts?

Thabeet had a brilliant college career followed by a sub-par NBA career.  The guy is huge, but has not put it together.  Would he be a good pickup for the right price, considering our lack of depth at the 5?

I liked Thabeet in college, and took a shining to him after he exchanged some words in arabic with me and made a shoutout during a livestream.

But he hasnt impressed me thus far in his career.  Id take him for the minimum, but my guess is some young, rebuilding team throws some money at him.

Hasheem Thabeet has a long ways to go before being a useful rotation caliber player.

Thabeet has nothing to offer this season and he won't learn anything sitting on the end of the bench. He needs game experience. Serious playing time (26+mpg, preferably 30-34mpg). You'll have to give him court time and he won't be adding much to the team. Not ideal for a title contender. But it'll be the only way to give him a chance to develop.

My expectation is that after a year's playing time, and some shame, Hasheem Thabeet should be a useful center (outside top 20). He will continue to make gradual improvements from that point on until he becomes a Sam Dalembert level center. A quality starting C.

I would be happy to take that journey with Thabeet. I think he'll pay dividends in the end ... but you are pretty much writing off this season to do it.

The Cliche is 'Can't teach size'. Even if his a bust, he's worth the risk.

Thabeet makes Darko look like a prodigy. He needs to go to Turkey or something, but after watching Semih play I'm not sure Thabeet could cut it in Turkey

In this case I think I'd rather actually try to teach size to Avery Bradley, and that is saying something

John Hollinger of ESPN broke the news that the Houston Rockets have indeed used their Amnesty clause on Hasheem Thabeet

http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2011/12/11/2629570/rockets-use-amnesty-rights-on-hasheem-thabeets-contract-sign-marc

The Big man out of Conneticut put up 3.1ppg + 3.6rpg in his first season with the Grizzlies

He was traded a year later to the Rockets.

What do you guys think about this?

A potential Celtic in the making?

I'd still pick him over that Greg guy.. Tall, shot-blocker,  good defender, and he's from UConn! But do we still have any roster spot left?

Thabeet is worthless  kwame brown would be a better pick up at least he has size thabeet is taller but brown can bang more but i think brown wants more than the vet min but we need a center so it cant hurt us to pick him up and flip him in a trade later on in the year or just wave him

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'd be substantially more excited about thabeet than I am about Johnson.
