Would you still trade for Paul WITHOUT an extension if you know Lakers will get Howard with a locked deal ?

In effect CP3 will simply walk to our biggest rival at the end of season.

I believe Celtics are in a tricky position because of this trade breakdown. Howard is likely to go where he wanted to go, and CP3 wants to join him.

What to do....

No way in hell. In my opinion, DO NOT trade for Chris Paul unless you are certain he is signing an extension. Which probably isn't happening, therefore don't trade for Chris Paul.

There is no way the Lakers couldn't sign Paul next year. The only way they were going to acquire both would have been through trades. I think there is a much higher probability that Paul will sign with us just because of not many options elsewhere and with us looking much younger with his buddy West signing with us

I think it all depends on david west.  If we get him, I dont think it's a guarantee anymore that cp3 walks after this year, and I think our chances of winning it this year are as good as anyones.  david west+cp3s first championship i think would be more than enough to convince him to stay.  And at that point, even if he didnt who cares...we got banner 18.
