Rumor is Jermaine O'Neal and Billups wish to join Miami.  Their line up becomes:  Billups, Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Jermine O'Neal.  Their second unit is Chalmers, James Jones, Mike Miller, Battier, Haslem, Anthony, House.  No problems with point guard, Center or depth issues.

Well, we'll see.  It's a long way before that comes to fruition.

good points. of that group, it is billups that had the best chance of making miami much better than last year, and they made the finals then.

they still are weak at center though. oneal wont give them anything close to a full season. but nonetheless, the heat are the team to beat right now....and i hate them.

Well, we'll see.  It's a long way before that comes to fruition.
Billups is already officially waived.

Yeah so far all they did was reduce the minutes James and wade will play at the two and the three. I wasn't impressed with getting battier and keeping miller.

He hasn't cleared amnesty waivers yet, though.

No, but who's got cap space to bid on him, and a need to do so?

If JO goes there, Miami should start Joel Anthony ahead of him.

It's not even necessarily about need.  Minnesota could do it, and then wait 30 days to trade him for an asset.  Same thing with a lot of teams.

Maybe that won't happen because of agents threatening to put up a stink, but I think that if I was another team, I'd do it.

New Orleans could certainly use Billups if the Paul trade goes through.

Would anyone want Billups at the big salary?

After the year JO had last year does anyone honestly expect him to go in there and make a difference?

On amnesty waivers, teams with cap space can place "bids" on how much of the contract they want to assume.

Let's say Minnesota bids $2 million, and that's the winning bid.  The Twolves pay him $2 million, and in 30 days, it's my understanding that they can trade him on that $2 million salary.

I'm curious what happens for trade purposes when someone is claimed off of wavers at a reduced salary? Is the claim figure used?
