Lakers will get the Mavs' first-round pick in 2012, maybe a second-rounder as well

@Mike_Bresnahan

Oh, how I hope Howard goes to the Nets.

And the LA fans can watch the Trade Exception out there when Bynum is hurt once again.

LA has started acquiring picks...hopefully Otis Smith will realise that Mavs' pick won't amount to much.

Not if they trade it for another former GS SG.

I'm betting this means no David West for us. :/ Unless we get Chris Paul in the process as well. But it seems really unlikely now that we can't sign and trade Green. Maybe I'm reading to much into this though.

Why should we assume that CP3 would be a short-term rental now that the make-up of this scenario has changed so drastically? It's common knowledge that the Celtics will have cap space to work with next season so if you can take a recipe that almost worked in New Orleans and tweak it, why not give it a shot? Not to mention that Monty Williams is a disciple of Doc Rivers.

...Because we are talking about shipping Rondo. We should be assuming he is a short term rental. There is absolutely no reason to assume he would resign. He already said he didn't even want to come here because of how old the team is.

Sources close to the situation tell ESPN that Clippers have emerged as "early frontrunner" to acquire CP3 now that Lakers out of running

- Marc Stein

Only if they have a sudden change of heart on trading Gordon.

I wonder if the Bledsoe injury effects their offer?

I dont know, but Bledsoes injury is the same injury that CP3 had.  Just goes to show how common it is.  I bet at least 5 players on our own team have had it lol.

couple things i take away from the lal/noh deal falling through

-danny is definitely going to take a 2nd look

-i personally hope it doesn't happen (i like rondo better, i don't want to have to root for paul)

-lal is definitely going to go strong for howard, jerry buss must be fuming, he's going to want to come away with something to show off about

-we actually could do a deal for both paul and west, if deals are done seperate (but agian, i hope neither happen actually-although i may come around on the deal for west)

-nyk may be in mix now,  amare for cp3 straight up.  does noh do it, and does stern allow it?

We're not gonna get CP3 out of this, so let's kill that right now. Our offer was Rondo + Jeff Green + 2 1st's. Since we just resigned Green, he can't be traded for awhile.

The only thing this means is that we're not getting David West.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Another way to go is to keep Rondo and then try to sign Marc Gasol and Aaron Afflalo next year.

Rondo/?/Bradley
Afflalo/Ray/Moore
Green/Pierce/Marquis (re-sign)
West/KG/Bass/JJJ
Gasol/?/Wilcox (re-sign)

Assuming KG and Ray come back at vet minimum.

I don't understand the Odom trade though. What's Dallas' motive? They let Chandler and Butler walk away to preserve cap space in 2012 and will most likely lose Barea too...and now they are going to acquire Odom who still has 2 years left on his contract.

Cuban is trying to prevent the Nets from getting Howard so the can snag Deron after this year.

by letting la get howard?

that sounds like a bad idea, very bad

Just curious, if we traded for both West and Paul how much cap space would be left toward next season? Assuming we found a way to sign Paul to an extension.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

memphis is likely to lock up m. gasol this offseason.  he's restrited now, but this actually could help memphis.  does memphis offer enough to get gasol to sign long term is the question?  otherwise, he's gone this year probably.
