Just to throw it out there, Rondo/Bradley/JO/Vet minimum should be enough to take back Paul and West.
CP's 16+M and West's proposed 9M per is 25M.

We no longer can trade Green now that he's signed, and Rondo/Bradley/JO/Vet won't be enough to snag them both, unfortunately.  Plus, that's a craap package compared to what the league just said was insufficient.

Hmm...Dwight will be off the market now. If you go for CP3, there's a much lesser possibility of convincing CP3 to stay because you are signing another great player with him.

If we do make another offer for CP3, we can't include Green, right?

Rondo + JO + Bradley + JJJ + Clips #1?

This gong show that has taken place the last 48 hours may be a blessing in disguise in that we may end up with CP3 while retaining Green who I am sure would have been included in an original deal

If the package the Hornets were getting wasn't good enough, why on earth would Rondo + picks + scrubs be more enticing?

Just because of the youth factor? Honest question, not trying to be condescending.

That and the fact that the Hornets wouldn't be taking on $70+ million dollars in salary commitments.

I still think we would need to get a 3rd team involved.

Quick question - how in the world do the Celtics convince Chris Paul to stay if Dwight Howard is off the market (in LA, Chicago or NJ) and so too is most of the 2012 FA talent?

Won't Chris Paul just leave in 7-8 months time?

He can't go to the Knicks or Lakers. So it would really only be between us and the Clippers next summer.

I think DWest would help too.

I still say this whole episode ends with Stern's resignation.  Shooting down the first CP3 trade was an absolute disgrace...and now look at it could well be leading to.

Try to acquire the younger Gasol next year...and then sign other solid players who are not stars. Have to give it a try instead of living in a "what if" world.

Yes but it might be the best deal available to the NOH. The NBA really can't let Paul walk at the end of the year and get nothing so they better take the best available offer.

If we are able to get CP3 our chances of signing him look much better than they did 2 days ago.

-With Dwight Howard likely going to the Lakers
-NYK is Capped out
-Nets have Deron Williams
-Celtics will have his bird rights and possibly his good friend Davis West, Boston becomes the next best option...

To get this deal done you would have to do two seperate trades I would think. Seperate the Paul and West deal.

wow i hate the lakers ! [dang] now we are sending rondo to them this sucks

Huh? Where do you get that we're sending Rondo to the Lakers?

I'm guessing its just speculation, based on Ainge's previous attempts to land CP3

Hopefully Danny doesn't bite.

And I really hope the Lakers don't get Howard.  CP3 didn't worry me.  Howard does.

Im pretty sure the Celtics can still trade Jeff Green since he is on a one year deal. He would have to consent and lose his Bird rights.

CP3, Kobe, Metta Peace, ?, Bynum

or

Fisher/Blake, Kobe, Metta Peace, ?, Dwight.

Which line up is better and will win more games?

Howard doesn't to me yeah he's dominant but it's nothing much more than what we've seen with Bynum already.

Hopefully he doesn't bite? Hopefully he doesn't trade for the best PG in the league?

I find this place funny sometimes. We all love Rondo he is good. But he has some serious holes in his game. The only "hole" in CP3's game is injuries.

I am willing to take that risk and it seems like Danny is too. Get this thing done Mr. Ainge.
