They pretty much said that the reason why the trade didn't go threw was because they thought a big market team was taking advantage of a small market team and player....

So pretty much the C's can't get CP3 either according to that.

Also NY shouldn't be able to either. Yes even with Chandler they are actually talking about bringing in CP3 THIS year??? Aperently they can't do math in NY, or is Stoueimire on the block now for all he did for that crap team. Really Nice, makes me want to go there.

If CP3 ends up in NY with Stoudemire, or in LA with Howard this year,Im calling foul to the league. I can't believe they didn't make a two max contract per team limit in the lock out. This is what is making the NBA week, you don't see this crap in the other sport nearly as much.

I think the NBA is headed down a dark path. They are about to have 5 contending super teams and the rest are pretty much jobbers. (wrestling term for those who do not know)

I did read somewhere that NY might offer Amare and some other player in order to land Paul. So why did you even sign Amare if you're so willing to trade him?

I'm excited that the NBA is back I am, I am just not sure I'll watch it... it's WAYYY too predictable, especially if Paul and Howard up in LA or heck... even if both came here to Boston. Why doesn't the NBA just cut down the number of teams to 5 and get it over with.

It's Ok, at least we got Jason Kapono.

So last preseason you predicted a Mavs win?  i doubt it.

I was happy the Mavs won, it was awesome. But I was almost right. I predicted it was gonna be Heat Vs Lakers. But I mean honestly is it possible for the 76ers to win? Hawks? Hornets? Blazers? Wizards? No cause they don't have 3 super stars on there team so they "don't matter". It just sucks.

So you're saying it was less predictable in the 80's when the Lakers won 5 championships and the Celtics won 3?

Or in the 90's when the Bulls won 6?

This has been the reality of the NBA for its entire existence.  In 1985, how many legit contenders were there?  Did the Pacers, Cavs, Bullets, Nets, Kings, Clippers have much of a chance against the Lakers (Magic, Kareem, Worthy), Celtics (Bird, McHale, Parish), or 76ers (Moses, Doc, Barkley)? Isn't 5 contenders better than just 3?  By this argument, the NBA has made huge progress.

This recent "to LA, not to LA" business has put us in bizzarro land. How weird has this day been for everyone? For me, very weird.

I have basically grown to really like the idea of CP3 to Boston for Rondo because it makes getting DH all the more likely. I saw it as the inevitable transformation of the Cs from the current Big Three, to a new Big Two. I was just getting used to this idea, then LA swoops in, and I got sad. Then the NBA swoops in and I got happy for a split-second, but then I got sad when I realized/remembered how much of this NBA cr@p is scripted by the NBA marketing machine, and now I just throw up my hands and say.... I hope tomorrow doesn't bring as much drama.
Celtics fan for life.

If you are: Minnesota, Milwaukee, Detroit, Indiana, Toronto, Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio, Denver, Utah, the Clippers, Sacramento or Golden State are the chances higher than 1% that you win a championship this year? That's 60% of the NBA right there. Gee wonder why tickets are so cheap in many of those markets?

I think it'd be nice if any given year any of the 30 teams could win a championship. The NBA has made progress but not enough honestly but whatever... the NBA is the NBA.

Bottom line is this is business decision. The league trying to sell the NOH. Having a superstar the caliber of Chris Paul on the roster makes the franchise more lucrative. I still believe CP3 will be traded this year, but after the franchise is sold.

as one person on twitter put it tonight (after the cp3 trade which was later killed):

the nba should just split up into subdivisions like NCAA football, FBS and FCS.
