Supposedly, the Celtics offer almost went through today, to the point where they were about to schedule a physical for CP3 here in Boston tomorrow.

The Hornets then made one last round of calls giving other suitors a "final" chance. That's when the Fakers struck.

Thank God the Empire Struck Back.

exactly we were giving up way too much i mean we have no depth as it is. cp3 would not have saved us i put money on that center and 6th man is main priority in my opinion.

There are a lot of homers on these boards who like to pump up Rondo.  But the reality is OKC turned down Westbrook for Rondo last year.  NOR preferred Eric Gordon, Steph, Curry, and a the LAL package over Rondo.  Rondo's game has major flaws and he has a poor atttitude; he's not winning many people over other than the homers.

That has nothing to do with it...the thing is Eric Gorrdon is their guy, Westbrook is their guy..that's the reason they don't want to just swap

What if back in the day the Raptors called offering Vince Carter for Paul Pierce, it would be a No from us, why because Paul is the face of our franchise

Similar if The lakers had called cleveland back then offering kobe for lebron, or vice versa it's a no...marketing $ went into that certain player and there doesn't appear to be any need to trade him because it'll basically just be a lateral move

Like someone offering John Stockton for Gary Payton back in the day, both offices would say no to each other

He was undervaluing Rondo... No doubt about it.  Seems like most fans love to overvalue Rondo and most GM's and NBA front offices love to undervalue Rondo.

No doubt. I have no doubt in my mind that a CP3 for Rondo, Jeff Green and 2 1sts (Clips included) would have gone through.

Top PG for Top PG, plus a good swingman and two draft picks. I have no doubt that wouldn't have been vetoed.

So this means that Gordon and Curry are both more valuable than CP3?

No clue where you got that from BballTim.  Obviously they are worse.  CP3 is a top 5-7 player in the league.

Edit: Ok sorry most Celtics fans overvalue Rondo.

Gordon is NOT the clips guy...Griffin is.  Westbrook is NOT OKCs "guy"...durant is.  The teams didnt want to swap, because they all thought their players were better for their teams than Rondo would be.  Basically...Rondos value (outside of boston), is greatly exaggerated in the eyes of celtics fans

Seems like if NO not wanting to trade for Rondo means he's overvalued, then the fact that GS and LA wouldn't trade players that, let's face it, aren't exactly franchise players, for CP3 would mean that he's pretty overvalued as well.

You're right it's probably a mix, but no doubt about the Hornters undervalue Rondo.

DA must be retarded too. Danny was practically giving Rondo (and half the team away) for another top 5 PG.

And the Hornet's GM was too dumb to take the deal. Hmmmmmmmm!

Pierce for Carter is an insane example, the Celtics wouldn't have done it because Pierce was/is a much better player. I read a post from an OP on here that mentioned he didn't want Rondo traded because he goes to Bruins games...People need to realize its a business, building a team around a point guard who cannot shoot makes no sense!
