I fear Billups will go to the Heat if he is amnestied. :-\

yup, i have to imagine that's where he'd end up, unless some team actually wants to take on the last year of his contract.

Hopefully Minnesota does us a favor, and puts in a $2 million bid on him.  They could use somebody to mentor Rubio.

terrific in a literal sense.  i do not want to see billups on the heat.  his game would complement those guys perfectly.

since he only has one year left, though, it wouldn't shock me if some team picked him up for the last year of his contract.  maybe the hawks or mavericks.

The question is, who plays PG?

Douglas or Fields if they don't want to sign anybody else. According to rumours, Knicks are also interested in Barea.

Not enough talent in the backcourt. Not a contender in the short term.

Tyson, Melo and Amare is a very nice trio to build around.

I'm not sure that core is enough though ... they might need a fourth high level player (above average starter) to have a core truly capable of contender.

jeez
if we are looking for a silver lining
turiaf as backup big would be nice for us

if knicks have chandler & hill added to that time I think we've dipped to #3 in the east (maybe 4)

I don't have a source...

But I also heard that Warriors were offering Tyson 4 years 60 million...

Edit** Found one

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/08/warriors-offer-tyson-chandler-four-years-60-million

Quote
The Warriors have made a four-year, $60 million offer to Chandler, reports Matt Steinmetz of CSNBayArea.com . No word yet on whether or not Chandler will accept that deal, he has been courted seriously by Houston and a host of contending teams (where he would have to take considerably less money).

Would they be giving him the near-max deal he is looking for? I get the appeal of Chandler, but can someone explain if I'm missing something? He's a 10/10 guy who averages a block a game and plays 28 minutes a game. Hell, he's only averaged more than 10 rebounds twice in his career, and that was 06-08, and only more than 10 points per game twice in his career. And he's injury-prone. I'll give him that he's improved, converts a tremendous amount of his shots and has really worked at his free throws, but otherwise I see a guy peaking at the right time, hitting 30 next year with no real "dynamic" talent worth that kind of money.

Chandler's a very very good player and he would make the Knicks a much more formidable threat, but we'll see if the money is worth it. I don't think his asking price is anywhere near his worth, unless I'm completely missing something here.

I hear they really like Shumpert, and Douglas is decent to play pg. As far as who's comment about another above average starter, didn't they just sign Grant Hill?

Billups would make an interesting veteran leader for the Sacramento Kings (if amnestied).

Keep Tyreke Evans at the two. Use Jimmer Fredette as a backup PG and bring him along slowly. A strong leader/teammate who could hopefully make an impression DeMarcus Cousins about work ethic and doing things the right way.

A team that would need to add a fair bit of salary yet to reach the minimum cap figure. Maybe.

Shumpert looks a very impressive prospect at SG. Not convinced he can play the point though.

The report said they were close to signing Hill but nothing has been agreed to yet.

Would New York have enough cap space to sign JJ Barea?

He'd be a nice (role player) playmaking PG for that team and system.

Douglas
Fields
Melo/Hill
Amare
Chandler

Fascinating team.  I like Fields and Chandler's defensive/rebounding skill-sets to complement their offensive stars.  Gaping hole at PG and no bench outside of Hill but they'd be fun to watch.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson

I find it amazing the Knicks would take themselves out of the CP3 sweepstakes, especially if he wants to be there.

I think Toney douglas is way more capable than some give him credit for.  toney, melo, fields, amare, and chandler is a great lineup.  They have more than enough scoring, and strong defense on the point, wing and post.
