Tracy McGrady has agreed to a one-year deal with the Hawks for the veteran-minimum, according to a source.

McGrady played for the Pistons last season, starting in 39 of the 72 games in which he appeared.

McGrady will presumably replace the bench scoring provided by Jamal Crawford.

Hawks going downhill each season.

McGrady goes from the team with the most dysfunctional front office last season to the team with the most dysfunctional front office this season.

If the Hawks presume that they will get the scoring provided by Jamal Crawford, they are presuming waaay too much. I wonder if we put in an offer for him.

Who's the Hawks point guard?  After a decent season running point for detroit, I could see him getting some time there for the Hawks.  For the vet min, I think thats a great signing.

Excellent signing.

McGrady is a large upgrade over Damien Wilkins (last year's primary backup wing) and a solid upgrade over Mo Evans (the main backup wing in previous seasons).

I thought McGrady was one of the best available wings for that minimum contract. I really like the idea of McGrady's ball-handling, passing and rebounding on that Hawks squad. Gives them a nice multi-position player. Still has a really good post game too, Larry Drew will take good advantage of the mismatches McGrady can cause with that. I think he'll do very well for Atlanta.

Jeff Teague and Kirk Hinrich, although Joe Johnson is sort of the team's PG.

I'd like to see them start Teague and use Hinrich as a backup combo guard. A Hinrich and McGrady combo is a nice bench rotation. If they can also get an upgrade at backup PF on a minimum contract to add to Zaza + J.Collins up front, the Hawks could put together a quality bench.

I think McGrady's PG skills be especially useful to K.Hinrich.

Good signing for ATL... Somewhat surprised that T-Mac jumped so early to sign a vet min contract.  I take it that he didn't think he could get more money elsewhere and Atlanta is his preferred destination?  What's the appeal in Atlanta?  He's from the middle of Florida, so not hometown?  It's not minutes since he'll be coming off the bench.  What is it?

I think the Bulls should've pursued him.

Didn't he burn some bridges when he went to workout for them last year before he went to the Pistons?

I remember him being heavily linked to them and then one of the sides backing out late in the process.
