What if...Russell didnt twist his ankle in '58?
What if...Hondo didnt hurt his shoulder in '73?
And last:
What if...McHale or Parish had secure that rebound of KAJ missed FT in game 4 of '87 finals? We go to LA with 3-2 lead and would have a great chance to repeat...

Yeah, and what if there were either 3 referees working or the ability to use instant replay? Because IMO there is no way that didn't go off a Laker.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

What if the NBA hadn't forced us to keep Reggie Lewis on our cap for three years after his death?

What if Pitino included Kedrick Brown in the Rodney Rogers deal, instead of Joe Johnson?

Was that Pitinos decision?
I had no idea about having to keep Reggie on the books. How disgusting is that?!?
We have had some horrid bad luck to go along with all our positive fortunes.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Tons of great stuff.  I really think the Len Bias might be the biggest.  We might've had 20 titles by the early 90s.

I also like to think about not only what would've happened had Duncan come to the C's, but also what would've happened to Rick Pitino.

If Duncan would've come here, would Pitino now have several championships and be talked about as one of the greatest Celtic coaches ever?

I'd even add Dino Radja to this "What If" list.

I would've loved it if he could've stayed healthy. Loved his game.

1. Len Bias
2. Duncan
3. Durant/Oden
4. Reggie
5. KG doesn't want to leave Minny
6. Kedrick over Johnson
7. No Perkins playoff injury

This is good. I never heard the Parish for Cage/X-Man deal.
Bias is the biggest and KG's knee (I say we win in 2009 and 2010 too, so 19 banners to 14 for LA).

DL has nailed it here ... "What if Len Bias hadn't died?" There is no bigger unanswered question in the history of the Celtics ... not even close.

This occurred to me at about 4 in the morning and I don't think anyone else said it

What if Tony Allen didn't snap his acl on a stupid dunk after play was dead?

What if Sheed had had 25% of the professionalism and dedication on court and off of Ray Allen? Would he have been able to help us win another ring?

I think Sheed was great for us.
I couldn't have really asked for more in the finals.
When he came out and drained those tough shots in game 7 I really thought we were going to win.

I think we were one quarter of bad play away from having Sheed help us win a ring. He got us much closer than he ever 'dogged it' to stop us getting one, if you get what I mean.

The death of Len Bias.

Cs were just coming off the '86 championship, with a great team...Bias would have given extra years to Bird, McH, Parish, and a great shot at more rings.  Probably would have been a multiple all-star.  Completely changed the face of the future of the Cs at that time.  In my mind, nothing comes close...we lost 10-15 years of greatness.
