"Sources said their offer includes point guard Rajon Rondo, a 2012 top-10 protected first-round pick from the Clippers, second-year guard Avery Bradley and rookie guard E'Twaun Moore. Another source said restricted free agent Jeff Green would likely be part of that deal as well."

You gotta be **** kidding me. I wouldn't make this trade in all of eternity. Lets just have Larry Bird and Bill Russel come out of retirement, find the fountain of youth, and then trade both of them for Chris Paul.

Danny is going all in with a terrible hand. What on Earth are we gonna do next year with Chris Paul and one other player??

The truth is those reports are pretty close to accurate and they aren't that crazy.

Apparently win the title, or at least contend for it.

Didn't you know Chris Paul is God.  He will win the title by his awesomeness.  We don't even need a full Roster, Paul can play 3-4 positions simultaneously.  In fact we should trade the Big 3 for 3 life size posters of CP3 and we'll win 4 championships guaranteed.

Yup, pretty much. This would be a great deal for the now and later. Chris Paul is a far better player than Rondo.

I don't see how these trade offers are so far fetched.

You replace Rondo with the better player and you really lose nothing that you had last year other than Jeff Green, who is supposedly a very easily replaceable player since role player wing men are a dime a dozen?

  • Rondo = Good

Danny is going all in with a terrible hand. What on Earth are we gonna do next year with Chris Paul and one other player??

sign a bunch of players with all the cap space?

what do you think the alternative plan would be to do with rondo, anyway?  keep the big 3 around until they qualify for social security?

one way or another this team is going to look extremely different in a season or two.

if we trade for chris paul, you get one season with him to have a last shot at a title, and then you try to rebuild by signing free agents to put around paul (if he chooses to stay), or you start completely over again (if he chooses to leave).

the premise of any trade of rondo for chris paul must in part be that rebuilding without rondo makes more sense than rebuilding with him.  otherwise it's far too much of a gamble.

To take it one step further, would it really shock anyone if Ainge were to use the amnesty on Pierce next season? A 35 year old Pierce who will make  nearly 17M?

It's all rumors. I got one that says this:
Quote
According to a person familiar with the discussions, the Celtics offered Rajon Rondo, two future first-round picks, and restricted free agent Jeff Green in a sign-and-trade for Paul.

I did not know that. Guess you learn something everyday. I'm now on board the CP3 train. Tommy point for enlightening me and I see  the errors of my past.

Yup. You make that deal every day of the week. New Orleans laughs at that offer from Boston, except for the fact that CP3 wants out.

I'm thinking that we would just use the mid level on a player and sign players for lower amounts than the mid level, just like we have since 2008.....
