Loyalty can also lead to demise. Danny won't be like Red was in this regard. The league is different today than it was 20 or 30 years ago. I root for the Celtics regardless of whose name is on the back. I appreciate Rondo, but if he's traded, he's traded... Danny is about "assets" and I think he has ONE player who he will remain loyal to: Paul Pierce. The others? Not so much...
This is where I'm admittedly stuck at.
Red Auerbach didn't do business like this. When he passed in 2006, I had almost become numb to the Celtics troubles.
I guess that I had forgotten what Red meant to Boston and Basketball. A lot of that Celtic Mystique remains, with Bill Russell.
All I'm saying is that I just don't like getting caught up in hype. Chris Paul is definitely a top 5 Player, but is he right for Boston? Even for one year? Would Red do such a trade?
Will Dwight REALLY come to Boston with CP3 here?
When has Boston EVER became caught up in hype? This is where my disconnect is coming from. Chris Paul, admittedly, intrigues me, to say the least. Any PG that is listed at 6'0" and can break down a 7'0" (Bynum) like he did last year - in the playoffs - you just don't see that often.
But we've all seen Rondo do the same incredible plays.
