Personally I think this team needs to get younger not older so I'd pass on Vince Carter and a host of others being suggested around here.  We don't need an All-Star team from 2002 because that's not going to get it done.  We don't need guys who need the ball in their hands a lot to be successful because that's not how the Celtics play when they are at their best.

Pass on Carter. Pass on Iverson.  Pass on anybody who was over rated 5 years ago and is now a shell of the player he was then.

I don't think the C's have the budget to sign VC.  But I'd much rather see him wearing green than a Bulls or Heat jersey.  His addition would make any of those teams better and just a bigger obstacle for us to overcome.  Vince isn't a franchise type player any more, and no team needs him to be that whether us or somebody else.  But he can certainly add some consistent scoring punch which is something the C's are lacking.

While I wouldn't push for Vince, if he'd come here for the minimum, we'd be foolish not to take him. He's somewhat redundant with Green, but he'd be a strong part of a second team backcourt with West and Green. Doc could get away with keeping Ray and
Paul's minutes down.

Is he ideal? No. But no one we can afford is. Beggars can't be choosers, and we need to get used to being beggars.
