He will be cut and available as an unrestricted FA. Should the celtics go after him? We could use his scoring off the bench if he comes cheap. Miami is supposedly after him already.

I have no interest in adding Vince Carter at this point in time.

However, if the team loses Jeff Green and if free agency is unkind them and they fail to find a competent replacement ... at that point in time, it'll be worth looking at again.

No thank you.  Carter is one of those guys that I have no interest in rooting for.

Its an interesting question.  I would have a real hard time rooting for him, but at the same time, he is the type of player the C's really need to consider.  Put him in the 6th man role, and he could really take a lot of pressure of Pierce and Ray.

I am not sure he would be willing to come here for the vet minimum, but if he is, I think he is the type of guy you just have to hold your nose and bring in.

As long as we don't expect him to defend or hit big shots at the end of the game.  I have to think he'd sooner go to a team like Miami or the Bulls for the vet. minimum than the Celtics, though.

I don't see him in Miami, but I agree that he fits better in Chicago or Dallas.  But, you never know on this stuff.  I am not sure what his relationship is with the Big 3, but he did come up with those guys, so, there is at least a chance that they would want him.

Vince Carter has lost his competitive streak. Too content with what he has already accomplished in the league. There is no drive left in him.

Is there talent still there? Yes. Enough to be a quality rotation player? Yes. But without the mental commitment to fulfill that talent ... it just ain't worth anything.

At his age with his decline, Vince Carter just doesn't have enough talent to coast through possessions / games on a regular basis anymore. And it's not just unimportant regular season games against lowly sides. It's games where his team is fighting for a playoff spot. It's in the playoffs when his team needs him to make plays. But he's still coasting.

Too content with his past. No drive left in him.

I don't think any team should pursue Vince. Far more likely to let down whatever team he joins that improve them.

Vince Carter has lost his competitive streak.

Wait, when the heck did he ever have one?

He was a heck of a competitor in his early years with the Raptors.  He had a true killer instinct, and put on some real shows in the playoffs.

Unfortunately for the NBA, he was never the same after he turned it off to force a trade.

maybe he stopped competing after he had the most epic dunk ever.  he grazed his coinpurse on the top of Frederic Weis's head and after he landed he said to himself, "well, that's the highlight of my career."

Another team will overpay for him. It will hurt the other team more than it would help us.
