I truly believe that was the greatest in-game dunk of all time.  I can't even say how many times I re watched that clip. Absolutely amazing.

As for having him on the team.  I can't imagine him taking anywhere near the $ we have available.  Even without a competitive streak, he's still capable of dropping 15-20 points a night regardless of who's guarding him.  He isn't a good defender, but he isnt invisible like Nash or anything either.  He's also a decent rebounder, and underrated passer.  Basically, I think he's still too talented for anything near vet min.

who knew, people like AI and VC who were once all-star levels now becoming topics of becoming one's bench

It's a young mans game.  When you're a decade older than your competition, the fact that youre still around to be discussed at all, speaks to your career.

Youngsters will get you to the big stage, but veterans like Ray, Kobe, Pierce, Garnett, Dirk, Duncan bring home the hardware. I think it would be great to sign VC and AI, as long as its for the vet min. It worked out great with Shaq before he got injured. But when he was on the court, we were the #1 seed in the east.

Vince is a human highlight film but he has never delivered when it matters.  As far as him being a choke artist he is right up there with LeBron.   I would not want him on our team.  He never had a competitive streak.

He is getting up there and his game is based on his athletic ability.  No thanks.

Say no to Wince Carter. He will have a hard time getting a rotation spot anywhere this is year.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Would playing in Boston with our Vets light a fire under him?

I don't think he has ever had a fire under him except when he was playing with Kidd.  Even then he seemed to vanish in elimination games.

Another old guy that people here become so enamored of here.

I dont think anyone is expecting him to all the sudden become a cut throat closer or anything, but if bench scoring is your teams weakness, I dont think theres many other players in the league capable of creating their own offense like vince (even now).

It doesnt matter if he hits the winning shot, if he gets you 15 other points while the starters rest.

I guess this year was a player option for the Suns... i was hoping this was an amnesty thing... so that the Raptors could submit a blind bid and claim him.  I thought that would have been funny.

Vince Carter is a very important player for us to get in free agency.
1) We need a back up for Ray Allen, so he fills a position of need.
2) He's versatile enough to play small forward which is good to have because even with Green we would only have two Small Forwards.
3) He brings outside shooting, which is something we desperately needed with our second unit.  He shot 36-37% from behind the arc consistently over the last few years.
4) He's an efficient scorer for a guard, shooting 44.5% from the field over his career.
5) He brings prototypical size for a shooting guard, being 6'6.  That's something we have lacked in quite some time. (House, Tony Allen, Robinson, Bradley, West, Moore)
6) No longer an elite athlete at 34, he's still an above average athlete who can run the floor and get to the rim occasionally.
7) He comes with significant play-off experience.
8 ) While he's not the greatest influence in the locker room he's not been terrible either.
9) He also fills a need for Chicago, New York, Miami and LA, who all are missing a good shooting guard either to start or off the bench.  It would be especially good to keep him away from Chicago and New York.
10) He'll come cheap being bought out for 4 million by the suns.  He's eager to win a championship and his best chance would be with Miami, Chicago and Boston (in that order.)
11) He would have the least amount of pressure to be the man in Boston as he would likely start in Chicago and be the 6th man in Miami.
12) He's a proven scorer in his career which is something or second unit desperately lacks.
With West, Carter, Green, Davis and MLE Big man (or JaJuan), we would have an excellent bench which would allow us to rest our starters.  If it is at all possible to "Get Carter" then we should absolutely do so.

No thanks to VC.

For much of his career, it was mainly flash and hype.

He had very little substance. When the NBA and the lot were pushing Vince Carter, I was being captivated by Paul Pierce and his "chip on his shoulder" mentality after dropping to the 10th slot in the 1998 Draft.

VC ended up winning rookie of the year for his flashy game...and I think PP finished 3rd?

Paul's game had way more substance and not so much flash. I admire Paul's determination overcoming his stabbing, Pitino's reign of terror, butting heads with Doc and the eventual reward for all of this was playing with KG and Ray...winning #17.

We need more guys with substance on our team, not flash.

Yeah I'd much rather pick up Durant!

But seriously who the hell do you guys think is walking through that door? Options are limited given what we can afford and who is actually available.
