I am! Heck to me he was okay last season, I'm told he is even better than that usually, so.... I can only think upward he'll go from here!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

well no one really plays defense in the charity games but I can say this

everyone knows Jeff is athletic, its just he was too passive during post trade. We need Green to be more aggressive and meaner...

to be honest, I think Baby walks and we resign Jeff

And i kinda don't want to see us sign much FA, so we can give Jajuan some more playing time...

for some reason i have a feeling Rondo Jeff and Jajuan will be fun to watch

I have a lot of the same feelings. Baby most likely walks. It seems like they're definitely going to sign Green. He'll be more aggressive but I don't know if that will work out very well for him, we'll see.

I really think this board is going to go crazy for Johnson. I think he's going to really impress some people but I'm still 50/50 on whether or not he'll really be ready for this level right away.

he already got praises from Rondo and actually watching him in person during the harvard charity game, i gotta say

Johnson moves well and have range...shot some 3s (regular 3 pt line)

yeh i know they play no defense, but its nice to know he has that kind of range...want to see his post moves though...

i can see this kid going under KG's wings and being a very similar player as KG

Haven't seen him play very many times but he has a decent hook shot and it seems like his go to move is a kgish fadeaway jumper. He doesn't have a lot of inside moves but he'll learn some pretty quickly. He can shoot way better than a lot of people realize.

My only concern is his frame, he might get pushed around a little bit.

Pushed around by who? He's about 6'9" and 235 lbs of muscle at the 3 spot...Not many guys bigger than that at that position.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

They were talking about JJJ, who is 6'10" and ~221 lbs.

Yes, very excited, I think he'll be great for us. In fact, I can't wait for all the "I am sorry I doubted your b-ball skills, JG - I beg your forgiveness" threads  ;)

I am not excited about Jeff Green, but I am guardedly optimistic. This upcoming season is the best opportunity that he is ever going to get to show what he can do, we are thin everywhere and will need everything that he has to offer.
Saw the thread title and was about to post that I was guardedly optimistic (exact words). So you get a TP for saying it first.

I was guardedly optimitic after the trade...

Even after what he gave us last year (nothing) my sentiment remains the same.

He has talent but he really needs to find a role on this team and Doc needs to put him in position to take advantage of his strengths.

I'm excited about Green. Other posters have made some great points -- he's out of the shadows of Durant and Westbrook, has had a chance to get his feet wet in Boston, and, if he plays for the Celtics this season, will be on a team that's fairly thin and has a lot of aging stars -- all of which equals the best opportunity of his career. He's super athletic and has decent size, so here's to hoping he becomes mentally strong and starts to play with a bit of edge and attitude.

This is his fifth year and he hasn't improved since his second season.  The excuses about his role are becoming old.  I think he is what he is- an inconsistent guy with athleticism and average skills.  I don't expect him to be any different this year.  He's an ok player.

10 pts, 4 boards, solid efficiency (45% from the field, 35% from 3), passable defense (at the 3) and occasional shot-creation (at the 4) in 25 mpg off the bench covering for Pierce and KG: that's about what I expect.  Not much to be excited about, but useful bench production.

I'm more intrigued (although not really excited since I don't consider the prospects very likely) about what players he could fetch in a sign and trade swap.  I think Carl Landry would be an exciting acquisition.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Yeah and tight now, as crazy as it sounds, his trade value is probably at its apex.

Unless of course the OP is correct and he breaks out this year!

Jeff Green will not be playing for the Celtics this season so I have no reason to be excited about him. Rumors are circulating that Ainge is hot an heavy after a SF. Why?

Because there is no way Ainge is going to sign Green for the money Green's agent will be looking for or the years he will be looking for and put his future cap flexibility in jeopardy.

So he is out looking for one year cheap fixes to have as Pierce's back up and will either sign and trade Green, which won't be easy as he is a BYC player, or just let him walk.

This is pretty evident to me as I just do not see Ainge worrying that he has to keep him because he traded away Perkins, as I have seen some scribes give as to why Danny  has to sign him. Danny knew Perk wasn't going to be back because the C's wouldn't overpay for him. I can't think they will feel like overpaying for Green.

It will be exciting to see who they might get for him in a trade but other than that, I do not care about Jeff Green.

Pretty sure BYC is gone in the new CBA. Adande writes about this below.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/trades-111129/let-wheeling-dealing-begin

Quote
If you love trades, you'll love the new rules. Incoming and outgoing salaries don't need to match as closely. The obscure base-year compensation rule that left many trade ideas as far from reality as a concept car at an auto show is almost gone. And even the luxury-tax teams are free to join the sign-and-trade party -- at least for the next two years.

Here is an example he used in the article:

Quote
Another option now available to the Suns would be trading Nash to the Atlanta Hawks for Al Horford (the deal would have to wait until after Jan. 15). Any team could use an All-Star big man like Horford. And how about Nash joining the perpetually point guard-deficient Hawks to throw alley-oops to Josh Smith? (And, um Smith swatting away any opponents who get past Nash and into the paint?) Or Nash driving and kicking to Joe Johnson the way he used to in Phoenix? It could happen, with only Nash and Horford having to change jerseys. It wouldn't be so easy under the old rules. Because Horford's salary jumped more than 20 percent (to $12 million) this season and he would have been considered a base-year compensation player and his value for trade purposes would have been only 50 percent of his salary, or $6 million, not nearly enough to compensate for Nash. Now that rule has been wiped out, so this deal could be done.
