Depends on his health.  If his knees are good there is no question he is a better player.  I don't think he is a bad player but he isn't the same guy who owned the league a few years ago.  His PPG game dropped 3.  His FG% dropped slightly too.  Could it be he is having trouble getting the seperation he once got easily.

I think folks are unrealistic in how many peeps want to come here.    I buy the report as legit.   I also think Danny is trying to drive up the asking price so he can make another move elsewhere.  Danny has a history of avoiding knee guy or getting rid of them.  He let Leon, Tony and Perk leave.

Shaq: "Look at me! Why did you stop looking?  I am still big!  I am right over here!  Look, I am wearing a tiny coat!  Isn't it funny?  LOOK AT ME!!!!"

Shaq is aiming at being more "Barkley" than "Barkley".

This issue is moot.

Paul doesn't want to be part of a rebuild.

The opportunity is there to acquire CP3 with Dwight Howard and retain the Bird rights to KG, PP, and RA and be coached by Doc Rivers.

What are they gonna do, go out to LALALAND and be coached by that GOOBER Mike Brown? Thank (I really mean another word ending with the letter k) you World Wide Wes.

Rondo ain't going no where.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Bird Rights got nothin to do with it.

Yeah, we can't sign Dwight unless we renounce those Bird Rights

  • You say when......
he Celtics need a rebounder....like birdman...Ray is the shooter...green is coming on great....the other shooting guard just needs a bit more plaing time..Wafer....trade bbd..get a real rebounder..all bbd does is take charges because he is out of position...charges are great..but it really means someone is dropping the ball on D..!

Doesn't Shaq always praise his teammates?  (While they're teammates, for the most part anyways).

In Orlando it was Anfernee Hardaway was going to the best player in the league.

In LA it was Kobe is the best player in the league (Something like "I'm the most dominant, he's the best").

In Miami, Dwyane Wade was suddenly the best player in the league.

In Phoenix, it was Amare Stoudemire is the best big man in the league.

In Cleveland, it was LeBron is the best player in the league.

And now since he left the Celtics on good terms (and may still return  ;)), he's just touting his most recent teams best young player.  Nothing new from Shaq.

Granted though, Shaq has had some great teammates, so it's not like most of those claims were that far-fetched.  Still when you constantly say your current teammate is the "best" or "better than" someone else, and then change opinions when you move on to the next team, you  lose some credibility.

If you want to rent CP3 this year go all in and try to win it all this year I say go for it.

But that deal will not help the C's long term.

I want Rondo to stay.
agreed
we have rondo signed at a deal of a contract, paul would be costing us quite a bit, we have 1 year left with kg and ray (correct?), we are going to destroy any bridge years for a fleeting shot at a title
chris paul is not going to guard melo or lebron, the way through the east is now speed & forward play
lets concentrate on getting something for davis, getting a big or 2 and having the TEAM on the same page
when the season was 1/2 done, rondo was being talked about as mvp
we need health and a good team game
chris paul is great, to me the best pg in the game, he does need the ball quite a bit and I feel ray's game would suffer if rondo wasn't around, everyone else would be about the same
our team does need scoring help but main issue is rebounding, no one boxes out and our break suffers from good (silas/cowens like) rebounding

Even if Shaq were right (and I don't think he is), Paul is a better player to build a team around if for no other reason than he can draw other players.  Rondo, for as much as I like him, likely couldn't draw a guy like Howard like Paul can.  And that in itself is reason enough to trade for Paul.

Besides that, think about how much Paul would benefit playing a year with the Big Three, having options like that next to him.  And think about how Paul could potentially take years off the Big Three's careers if defenders couldn't cheat off of our PG to double them.

Shaq did not say Rondo was the best player, he said Rondo is the best point guard.  Being a big man under the basket, I would guess that he loved playing with Rondo, who got the ball to him in creative ways.  Wny would a big man in the post be that excited about a point guard who doesn't make a major point of getting him the ball exactly where he wants it, making him look good?

exactly, before his injury Shaq looked great on the celtics. and a large part of that was due to Rondo's passing abilities.
