After last season's playoffs, the Celtics offered Rondo and Jeff Green to Oklahoma City for Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Perkins, sources have told Broussard. The Celtics, looking for another scorer who can create his own offense, thought Westbrook might be available after his erractic postseason play. But Oklahoma was not interested in the deal.

Sorry if this has been talked about, but I didnt see this until now. Thats very interesting and pretty weird. I guess you can scratch off OKC as the 3rd team in a rondo paul 3way deal.

according to LA Beat writer Eric Pincus....this could not have happened due to this rule.

You've gotta get your facts right if you are going to report a rumor like this...I buy that Westbrook for Rondo was talked about, but Broussard just looks lame for reporting something impossible.

What strikes me the most, is Perkins back. That makes no sense whatsoever, since they dealt him away last season, even though pretty much anyone would've told them not to trade him. So why would you go back on that? And even if you would, why would you trade Rondo away? He's Perks best friend? So you'd have a disgruntled Perk who 'comes home' only to find his best friend gone... what good is that going to do?

... weird.

well a perk/westbrook combo is a lot easier to build a contender around thank a Perk/rondo combo. A perk rondo combo would be much to easy to guard without 3 other allstars so that makes sense to me why they would want to do a deal like this.

Lol wait so the celts trade back for perkins after he signs a contract that they didn't want to give him in the first place and was the reason he was traded?.... I call BS

Fair enough, but Danny doesn't seem like the type of guy to go and ship Green back out for Perk, because he made the move last year to *get* him. So if he'd want to get Perk back because of the chemistry issues caused, then why ship Rondo out? That's doing the wrong thing all over again.

And I doubt he'd want Perk back because of how Green played, or because he thinks Perk is less injury prone after half a year.

Doesn't sound like a Danny type move.

I have a hard time believing that bit of "news" from Chris Broussard.
