To be honest, that just sounds all kinds of weird.

Txted just that to my cousin.
What strikes me the most, is Perkins back. That makes no sense whatsoever, since they dealt him away last season, even though pretty much anyone would've told them not to trade him. So why would you go back on that? And even if you would, why would you trade Rondo away? He's Perks best friend? So you'd have a disgruntled Perk who 'comes home' only to find his best friend gone... what good is that going to do?

... weird.

well a perk/westbrook combo is a lot easier to build a contender around thank a Perk/rondo combo. A perk rondo combo would be much to easy to guard without 3 other allstars so that makes sense to me why they would want to do a deal like this.

I disagree with this. Westbrook is a fairly inefficient volume shooter. He can't pass as well as Rondo or run an offense as well. Players you put on the court with Rondo will play more effectively on offense than they would with Westbrook. People think there will be a big improvement in the Celts offense if you replace Rondo with a better scoring point guard, as if how well your point guard can pass or run an offense has no effect on how well your team plays.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Don't believe this for a second.
No way Ainge wants Perk back with that contract and his legs.
Absolute garbage. Defeats the purpose of everything he's done.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Are other people spouting these rumors to rattle Rondo?  Honestly, I can't see him taking all these trade rumors to well. I hope this doesn't cause him to come out struggling.

Which, along with his lack of a jump shot, is a big reason that Danny *should* be looking to trade him if he can get value.  Having a demonstrably moody player as a team leader just doesn't work.

if he wanted westbrook he shouldve just traded perk & rondo for westbrook & green
This is what I figure is the base of the rumor.  When they were talking trade, they may well have talked about including Rondo and Westbrook.  Somehow this this became like the telephone game and by the time Boussard heard it, it had morphed into this new rumor.  League rules and common sense tell you that this rumor can't be true.

He's never had any problems in the past with trade rumors, possibly not extending him, or criticism from Doc and/or Danny. There's no reason to believe this would be any different.

In my opinion I think Rondo would mix very well with Durant, but I also think hes better with our current core than Westbrook would be, but Russell might be the best piece for thew future? tough to say

After watching the playoffs against the Heat with the Celtics having no healthy C and Perk already signing a contract (that likely could have been more if he hit free agency) I can see Ainge wanting him back.

Especially if the reports that KG was laboring in pain through last season.  The Celtics want a big guy down there with him to more of the physical abuse.

We also know that the Celtics coaches and players did not want to see Perk go.

Maybe Ainge came to the conclusion that trading Perk wasn't his best move.

This doesn't pass the smell test.  Not only does it not make sense in general, but it couldn't have happened.  They could not have traded for Perkins before July 1st, and on July 1st, the lockout was on.

I think it is very believable that Danny has interest in Westbrook, and maybe this deal was brainstormed or thrown out in a conversation as a "what if" once the lockout was over...but this particular deal couldn't have actually been offered in a legitimate sense.

Lol wait so the celts trade back for perkins after he signs a contract that they didn't want to give him in the first place and was the reason he was traded?.... I call BS

To be fair, the deal he signed with OKC could not have been offered by the C's.  They would have had to wait until he was an unrestricted FA to make an offer to him, and chances are, he would have had offers significantly higher than what he signed in OKC.  But you are right, still doesn't make sense.
