I went a little nuts here going down memory lane.  I'm kinda partial to Charlie McDougal myself

I always thought Mark Hartsell was underrated

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Ha, its getting a little weird now when I can see a topic in the 'List Forum Topics' come up and know eja started a thread based just on the title.

Guy not on the list: Marcus Vick. In a universe where he could keep his crap together, he might've been as good as big brother.

Do you mean Kevin McDougal?  The Notre Dame QB from '93?

I coulda sworn I spelled that right. Yeah. That's the guy

Wow. He was the last ND QB to win a bowl game till 2008.  That's awful. Still holds the school record for career completion %

Wow that was so long ago. I thought he was in the league and off to an ok start. I wonder who I'm thinking of. That recent VT guy I think

No no no.  This is about guys that mostly didn't get a shot. Those guys had great shots.

JaMarcus Russell, in an alternate universe where he had the right intangibles to harness his ability.

None of the above?

I say Brook Berringer, who was the ultimate guy not to get a shot due to tragic circumstances.

Okay, so he probably wouldn't have amounted to much in the NFL, but people should remember Brook Berringer.  He could have been the next Matt Cassell.

When I wrote Brooks Bollinger (a real life guy actually) I actually meant Brook Berringer. That's fixed.

If memory serves me (and we all know it hasn't in the spelling department lately) Tommie Frazier had a good Senior Bowl and Tebow had a bad one

Charlie Ward.

McDougal played in the CFL and was not that good.

I wish the Heisman committee would make sort of a lifetime achievement award and give it to players that maybe should clearly have won one. Maybe as a condition they have to have been out of the sport for 20 years and had to have been at least a two time nominee to keep it from going to guys like Tom Brady.   But Peyton Manning staying at Tennessee for his senior year was huge and Tommie Frazier deserves a Heisman as much as anyone. I think Ken Dorsey could qualify.  If one time nominees could get it Steve McNair would qualify.  These guys gave a ton to the sport
