The Celtics are not actively shopping Rajon Rondo, but the team is open to trading him in the right deal, according to sources.

Boston believes they need more scoring to assist Paul Pierce.

So what player would Ainge have in mind that will help Paul Pierce in scoring ?
Alot of you will say CP3, because if we trade Rondo and end up with Bradley as our PG it doesn't make sense.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Broussard says a lot of things.

I'm assuming he's heard this through the CP3 channels.
Ie: Ainge has been talking to the Hornets about a trade for CP3.

How bout: Rondo, Baby,KG,Clippers Pick, Etwaun Moore or Bradley.

for

CP3, David West, and Ariza (ok Ariza is a bit too much, more realistically they'd throw in Aaron Gray or even Landry would be great for us).
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I for one believe trading Rondo now is selling high.

Brousard says alot of things...trading your24 year old pg for scoring help for your 34yo sf doesn't make any sense at all...unless its cp3..only then it makes sense. I still dont see it happening though

Ainge is exactly right about the need for more scoring from the point, and at this point I don't believe you wait any longer for Rondo to discover the jump shot that's never coming.

With that said, though - you trade Rondo only for top-grade help, i.e. package him for Paul. You do not move Rondo for any collection of B or C level players. Ever.

As the above poster said, now is a good time to sell with Rondo, IMHO - IF the deal makes you better this year, and advances the rebuilding process. Chris Paul accomplishes both.

Frankly, though, if I can't get Chris Paul, then I keep Rondo and look at other scoring options.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

If we did trade for CP3 we would lose Green and hopefully we don't have to give up that Clippers pick but our own 1st round pick in 2012, depends if the Hornets asked us to trade for Rondo.

Trading the guy who runs the team and the offence when you've only got a two week training camp....seems like a bad idea to me.  ::)

I'd trade Rondo in any number of packages.  Obviously Paul would be at the top of my list, but he wouldn't be the only guy I'd trade him for.  Westbrook and Williams I'd do at the point.  I'd also move him for a lesser PG and an upgrade at SG or down low.  Something like Conley and Mayo for Rondo.

Rondo's defense is overrated and he is a poor offensive player.  He isn't the type of player you can build around or even have as your #2 so if you can move him you do it.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Scorings great but when you got a point guard that can raise your shooters shooting percentage a few points to career highs, thats pretty ok by me.

OJ Mayo should be looked at by Boston. Memphis have wanted to move him for a good year now. Package Ray Allen and someone else to get him

Allen is 36 years old man. Its time to blow this up + blow up now. Trade Allen and get something back in return.

Dont let his contract just expire and not bring anyone back. OK if your going for D12 then obviously your gona have to move him to shed Ray's salary, but if Ainge has no intention of going after D12 then get rid of Allen and look at OJ Mayo or someone of that caliber.

Were the oldest team in the league and this reconstruction has to happen now.

First I'm hearing Tyson Chandler rumors, now Rondo.  So the only deal that makes sense is some massive 3 team trade.  ;D

Boston gets Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler for Rondo, Big Baby, and Jeff Green.

Hornets gets Rondo and Big Baby

Dallas gets David West and Jeff Green

Why for the Hornets, they get a new point guard to build around that won't bolt in free agency, and also bring in home grown player Glenn Davis to in hopes of filling a few more seats.  Rondo's the closest thing to a superstar they can get for Chris Paul.

Why for Dallas?  Ok I have no real good reason here (maybe they think West and Green are cheaper but just as effective as Chandler and Butler or Dallas loses a few free agents, like Chandler and Butler, so they want to get something for them?), fun to think about though.

I love that the lockout is over and I can get back to daydreaming about some crazy deals  :D

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I wonder when Dallas fans start rolling out the Rondo for Chandler trade ideas.

CP3 is the only player we should consider trading Rondo for.

Also, Rondo can't make a jumpshot...yet but Chris Paul's ability to penetrate has gone with his knees.

Ray expressed interest in staying in green and retiring. Having Ray Allen come off your bench on a vet min is a dream. Everybody's contracts are expiring next year so rebuilding, in my opinion, is next year as we see where this core takes us.
