But, say several league sources, Boston’s Glen “Big Baby” Davis looks favorably upon the Nets if he doesn’t re-up with the Celtics.

Whaddaya think? Could Boston work a sign and trade with New Jersey? Who would be involved?

The ideal sign and trade with the Nets would be sending Davis and cash/second round pick for a trade exception.

We can dream, I guess.  However, a lot of people are saying that Brook Lopez will be attractive to the Magic if they look to sign-and-trade Dwight Howard, so I anticipate they'll be looking for a substantially higher return for him than BBD.

Think they will also throw in the owners first born son?

Lopez had a bad year last season so maybe they will listen to offers for him

Morrow could be a throw in too, a career 44% from the 3 point line

And everyone loves draft picks. IDK. all i know is that the Celtics team needs overhauling one way or another

Baby and a low first rounder for Lopez and Morrow?   ... that sounds just a little unfair for one side...  maybe if the Nets throw in Deron Williams.

Keep in mind, though, that a "bad" year for Lopez was 20.4 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 49.2% shooting.  Each of those marks would be career highs for Baby (by a wide margin in most cases).

As for Morrow, I think he's too good to be a throw-in.  He doesn't do much more than shoot, but he does that exceptionally well.

Lopez had a bad year by what standards?  Yeah, he wasn't the MVP, but he averaged 20, 6 and 1.5 blocks as a 22 year old 7 footer.

Yeah, he could rebound some more, but unless the pick is the #1 overall pick, they don't even pick up the phone.

And Morrow is more than a throw-in.  The Nets would hesitate to trade him straight up for Davis.

By the standards of people who want to see their center play inside some. He was soft all of last year, and had a very bad year for someone of his potential. Especially when you want your players to start to make the leap to elite around their third year. Everyone gets graded based on what they have the potential to do, rather than pure results.

That said Glen Davis might get us a case of cold beer in a sign and trade, not a young 7 footer with potential.

Fair enough.  But that is neither here not there when it comes to his value in a trade like this.  Maybe that is the difference between needing to include 2 first rounders with him to get Howard instead of 3.  But, a guy of his pedigree does not belong in any trade discussion that does not involve a superstar coming to NJ, soft or not.

I agree on the trade value side of the topic. (see my ninja edit)

I watched the Nets a fair amount since they're divisional foes, and Lopez drove me nuts. If he wasn't hurt for most of last year I fear he's always going to be as soft as Al Harrington.

Honestly, the best that the Celtics might get from New Jersey is taking on the last two years on the contract of Johan Petro, an under-achieving foul-prone but athletic 7-footer who is 25 with $6.75 million left on his contract.  He's bad enough that people talk about him as the Net's second-best amnesty candidate behind Travis Outlaw, but good enough to have Nets fans think he might have trade value.

I guess he's somewhat adequate for a back-up center, but Nets fans seem to consider him unnecessary behind Brook Lopez in the same way that some Celtics fans seem to think that a legitimate backup point guard is not necessary behind Rajon Rondo.

I haven't actually seem Petro play much, though.

A wild card with NJ would be if Prokorov could be wooed by the history/status of KG and/or hope that KG would make Derron think the Nets are serious about contending, so KG for some package of Morrow/Petro/Lopez could start a discussion.

Edit-But i don't think the C's would be interested. Now, Ray + Pick for Lopez/Morrow? That's different.
