oj mayo from memphis or jason thompson from the kings are two relastic options i wouldnt be all that surprised if danny makes this happen

Would also love to see Mayo or Thompson here.

Don't think the Grizz or the Kings do it without a sweetener.

I'd think about including our Clippers pick to get either of those guys.

I find it hard to believe that BBD will command money in the $6M/year range.  He didn't in the past, and I don't see it happening now.

But then again, I should Apple would be a good short a year ago....

of the options floated, I like best the BBD for Zaza Pachulia idea because it helps the Cs get tougher and deeper at the 5, while maintaining future flexibility.

If Davis gets a big raise, it may be difficult to sign-and-trade him due to base year compensation.  I'm not completely sure what the new rules are.  Non-tax teams do seem to be getting a bigger exception that allows them to take on a bit more salary than they send out.

I suspect that, unless the Celtics send out a draft pick, what can be gotten in return for Glen Davis in a S&T will be the sort of player that you might not consider signing for more than the minimum if he was a free agent.  The ideal is probably a failed first round pick that Ainge thinks can be improved by better coaching and a change in scenery.

Mayo would be nice because he's a restricted free agent in 2012 so he wouldn't affect our cap flexibility.  However we need reliable bigs, we should keep Baby and go after Mayo in 2012.

The beatings will continue until morale improves

oj mayo from memphis or jason thompson from the kings are two relastic options i wouldnt be all that surprised if danny makes this happen

but i'd hope to see danny get a little more creative now that teams can recive 140% plus 100 k

a glen davis/jeff green package for josh smith is very possiblle(yes there will be other fillers & picks etc.)

another trade i'd like to see but contractually may be too much would be a jeff/baby/bradley package for oj mayo/rudy gay & maybe darell arthur
i'd honestly throw in ray to make up for salary as he'd likely get bought our or(wait for it) AMNESTY'D! lol & make a return to the celtics

EDIT:i just saw rudy gay's exact contract of 15 MILLION?! i'd love to see the guy in green but im not sure how we get that done but oj mayo is still a very possible target

I just said it on another post, but you cannot re-sign a player you amnesty for a full calendar year. It's part of the provisions blocking the amnesty loopholes the league have come up with

I really don't see a market for a sign and trade for Big Baby.  Keep in mind that coming off a brilliant playoff performance in '09 with a much brighter financial landscape, Baby couldn't get more than a 2 year, 6 million dollar deal.  After showing his true colors last year and playing more selfishly, while having a subpar playoffs, I think he does much worse in this much bleaker landscape.

Quite frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to give us anything for him when they can likely sign him for the minimum or thereabouts.

That said, I do like him back here given our circumstances.  And I'm not a Big Baby fan.

Why?

First and foremost, he knows the system and team.  And that's worth more this year in a short training camp that it's ever meant before.

Two, given his girth, he can body up bigger big men, which makes it easier for KG to play some 5.  And that helps us compensate for a lack of quality 7-footers.

Finally, since I don't think teams will be knocking down his door, it may be fairly easy for Danny to get him back here on a one year deal, something that won't be true for other free agents of BBD's value to us.

Would I prefer to let him go and go out and sign a legit 7-footer?  Absolutely.  But given our financial constraints, short training camp, and our desire not to give long term deals, BBD may make sense for one more year.

Though after that, assuming he doesn't make leaps and bounds, I'm all for letting him walk.
