Kenyon Martin would be at the top of my list. Need that defense and that intensity on the second unit, and the big 3 have proved they can work with big ego players.

There  will also be some solid vets who become FA thru the Amnesty Clause probably. I'd guess a few will sign w a team like Boston for a shot at a ring since they'll still get the money on their old deal.

I could also see Danny maybe waiting and trying to add a Wilson Chandler and/or Kenyon Martin in March -- which is when the China league is over and theyre free to return as FAs.

Nah, he'll get out. I bet you 50 TP's he'll be there on opening day.

Plus, unless he thought the China league was some kinda vacation (which he obviously didn't, see JR Smith), he ought to be in shape for camp as well. Win-win for Martin.

If the luxury tax threshold is kept around the $70 mil figure it was last year (and from what I've read this seems to be the case), then it looks like the C's will be fairly limited.

Already at $66 mil with none of the free agents signed (according to Shamsports), just giving Green his QO would put us at $72 mil and over the threshold.  According to Zach Lowe from SI, that would effectively deny us use of the full MLE (available only when it doesn't put a team over $4 mil into the tax) or the LLE (only for non-taxpayers).  All we'd have is a $3 mil mini-MLE, the vet min and I'm assuming the standard raises for our own free agents.

Thus, I'd imagine that Danny's efforts will be to offer modest raises for our own free agents (West and Baby), resign Jeff Green (I'm hoping for him to sign the QO) and try to sign one big man for the mini-MLE.  Then take a few dives into the post-injury big man bargain bin (Joel Przybilla, Etan Thomas) with the vet min.

West, Green, Baby and JO is a pretty talented bench if we can just find a plug for the 5 spot with starters.

My favorite big man target in the mini-MLE range is Chuck Hayes.  The guy plays tremendous defense in the paint.  Great lower body strength, good footwork, quick hands, great discipline.  Like Baby, he's nimble enough to make a swift rotation and cut off a ballhandler.  Unlike Baby, he can rebound the heck out of the ball, make a decent outlet pass and pass the ball.  Also unlike Baby he can't shoot.  But a great guy to have on such an injury riddled big man rotation.  Houston probably won't let him go.

Very realistic scenario.

Chuck Hayes would be a Godsend to this team, great lockerroom guy, one of the most underrated defenders in the league (who can defend the 4 or 5, unlike Baby, who works best with the bullies as long as he can keep them from gaining post position), and that's why Houston will 100% sign him for a contract exceeding the mini-MLE.

I agree he'd be a great fit, though I'd prefer him with the starters as opposed to the bench: Garnett and Martin is too good a defensive tandem to separate, and he'd benefit Rondo's transition game.  I don't think we'll be able to afford him though.  As a likely taxpayer, we'll likely be deprived of the full MLE.  Our best chance at Martin is him coming back at the end of the CBA season with some Chinese cash in his pocket, willing to take short money to play in the postseason with a contender.

We need a big that can actually rebound the [dang] thing. JO's knees are about as stable as the EURO.

I'd be looking elsewhere to be honest and I don't think Joel Prybilla will bring anything to the team. In the years we were successful we had a good big that could rebound efficently or someone that could defend. We you've got players like Allen, PP, & KG to pick up slack on the off end - you just need someone that can grab  a rebound or poke someone in the eye on the defensive end.

If we don't, and with this new CBA, we might struggle to have an impact in the playoffs down the line.

Why don't you think Joel P would bring anything to the team?  If he's healthy enough to play, he's a monster rebounder and a huge obstacle in the paint.
