I think you take the best player that is not a point guard.  Rondo is not going anywhere, it seems counter productive to take a point guard.  Also, I'm not sure Austin Rivers is the way to go yet, he needs to improve his shot selection and show he can be effective without having to have the ball in his hands all the time.  I think a lot of us have an infatuation with him because he's Doc's son which is fine but he's very raw right now.  Against the two potential tournament teams Duke has played he's really struggled.

One guy I am going to watch closely is the Jones kid from Kentucky.  He is a heck of a talent, but could end up sliding to the mid first round, where the C's could be picking.

He is an intriguing prospect, who has the size, NBA body, athleticism and skills to be a star, but he also has a penchant for taking too many 3's for a big man, and seems to cruise at times.

He is one of those guys who is going to need to be in the right situation in the NBA, to get the most out of his talent, but if they can find a way to get him to play the right way, he has the ability to be a (young) Antoine Walker, or Lamar Odom type...which you rarely find at that point in the draft.

I'm thinking Brad Beal from Florida might be an intriguing pick...with the names Barnes, Davis, Jones, and Lamb being thrown around Beal might slip to us.  Solid SG with range that can drive to the hole and play D.

Of guys who might reasonably be around at 11-14, I think John Henson is worth a look.  He's ridiculously long and already a great shot-blocker, but has developed a midrange jumper this year.  I've seen him hit it off the dribble, off the pass and as a turnaround fadeaway.

Henson is still pretty skinny for his size and would have to bulk up a little to avoid getting pushed around in the post.  But he seems like a good fit for our system, especially if JJJ doesn't show us much this year.

He is an interesting guy.  I am not a fan, because I think he is way too skinny, without much of a frame, and I don't think his skills make up for it, but he has been rising up draft lists from what I have heard.

My hope is that he will rise enough to push a better player down to us, but if he is there when the C's draft, they would have to at least look at him.

I still think it comes down to BPA since we're not so overloaded with talent anywhere (although I wouldn't argue with PG being all set for the foreseeable future) that we couldn't use an infusion of talent everywhere on the court---particularly going forward in a year or two.  As much as I hope that's a bonafide center, I think they really need an athletic swingman that can score and defend.

IF there's a season and the Clips climb a bit in the standings, I think the C's will do pretty well in the next draft with the Clip's pick and their own (which I see somewhere around 20-21.  If the Clips stink it up again, having that pick roll over a year to when the C's figure to be post-Big 3 (which would figure into their own pick being borderline lottery), there should be another opportunity to pick up a couple of good young players.

What happens if the whole 2011 season is lost?  How would they set the 2012 draft order?  That could be a crazy process.

30 Ping Pong balls!!

if the miami heat or the lakers somehow get a top 10 pick out of the lockout, I may stop watching the nba

Hopefully re-do the lottery with all the teams in it last year locked in. And then turn picks after that into a lottery of their own and use ping-pong balls to also determine 15-30.

well, Stern does have to 'repair' his legacy by ensuring his pet players Kobe and Lebron have a leg up on the competition for getting those titles   ;)

Stern must have KG and Ray Allen in his pockets, they did more to ensure a Kobe title than Tim Donoughy ever did.

how so?

by the way, after looking at restrictions on the pick and when Blake Griffin could hit free agency, I'm warming up to the idea of the pick continuing to roll over until 2016 when it's unrestricted.  I may be off in my calculations but I think Griffin could be gone in free agency the year before that draft and that year the pick could be very high and thereby really help the C's get that next franchise player.  of course that means another 4 years of wear and tear on Rondo.

This 66 game schedule should help the Clippers. Their young athletes should be able to pickup an extra couple of wins against older more tired legs.

It should be enough to get them out of the bottom 10. Maybe even a shot (along with HOU + PHO) at the final playoff spot out West.

As i understand after Danny's fiasco (thnx God) with CP3 - we will keep Rondo. We won't be a Howard's new home and we will keep philosophy of Doc with this core.3 teachers for young padavans and floor general Rondo + big body in the paint like Perk.
---
So, we have Green for PP.JJJ for KG.Moore for Ray.
With our first pick (I hope it will be 11-16) we need to take a best big man available. And this not going to be Henson or Robinson.
My pick - Patrick Young or Festus Ezeli (if he will show the GAME after his injury). They both are beasts. And with KG and Doc in 2 years we will have new (better offensively) Perk.
---
With our own Celtic pick (20-25) we need to take SG or SF - there will be some good players and my pick will be Will Buford(great shooter) or BPA(depend of who will be in our roster). There should be Middleton (SG Kerry Kittles type)),Plumlee(PF - big white hope),Leslie(SF Green type),Kris Joseph (Desmond Mason type).
---
Easy, guys. We r in good hands as long as Rondo and Doc r with us.
