In keeping with the food threads and in the spirit of the season, share your favorite/least favorite Halloween candies, from back in the day or the stuff you buy yourself or Trick or Treaters now.  Here's a few of mine:

Best

Any full-sized candy bar (I've seen kids go out of their way to protect the one house that gave em from assorted prankery)

And a controversial one:

Root beer barrels.  I love em, lots of people feel the opposite.

Worst:

Gross

Black licorice - just pay the 10 cents more and get the Twizzlers, jerk!

Crappy popcorn balls

Who even makes these?  It is a mystery for the ages.

The best Halloween candy: full size candy bars

The worst: bite size

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Only one I would disagree with is Three Musketeers, they are probably my least favorite candy. Root beer barrels are an excellent choice though, those things are mana from heaven.

I'm a sucker for peanut butter candy though.

Gimme these:

But above all this!!!

I love black licorice.

Best: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Hands down.

My vote for worst: candy corn. I have never eaten a piece of candy corn and enjoyed it. It's like eating an Oompa-Loompa's ear wax.

See, I like candy corn...wouldn't eat it with any regularity but it tastes good the 1-2 times a year I have it.  The little candy corn pumpkins tend to be overkill though.

And I love peanut butter candy (except those little black and orange toffees from up above) but I'm not a huge Butterfinger fan - the flavor isn't worth the 15 minutes I spend prying it out of my molars afterward.

Oh here's another one for the bad list:

Good for tooth removal, I'm sure, because once it goes in your mouth it's not leaving without a fight.

How can we both love Hennepin and have such divergent tastes in Halloween candy?

Give me all the Mary Janes, black licorice, and Bit o Honey I can eat, you can keep your candy corn, FWF.

See I think that just makes us ideal Trick-or-Treating buddies.  Except for the whole grown adult thing.  But divvying the loot would be a cinch.

Worst: Candy Corn

End of discussion

Candy corn is pretty awful, though that hasn't stopped me from eating it if it's in front of me.  I am the eternal optimist I suppose.  I always think it's going to be better than it is.

It's hard to top the classics (Snicker's, Milky Ways, Hershey's assortment - though you can keep your Mr. Goodbar), Twix, Kit Kat, M & M's.
Yup

Butterfingers and Heath bars are best.

Worst are Whoppers, I'd say.  Almost as bad as people who give pennies or non-caramel apples.

Do people still give out fruit? I thought the practice all but ended during the "razor blade" days of the 70s.
