No FA ever came to the Celtics because since Bird retired, the franchise's legacy had been dormant for over a decade.

Or is it that the franchise's legacy was dormant for over a decade because they could not get any good FA's to come here?

The C's never signed any big name, high priced free agents since Bird left because they couldn't.  They were always at the cap with what they already had.

yes, poor management sunk us, but do you honestly think someone like Shaq would have chosen to come here instead of LA?

If our franchise didn't have to deal with Len Bias and Reggie Lewis's deaths....there would have been:

a.) a much higher chance FA like Shaq would consider joining the C's

b.) we may not have needed any FA to continue the franchise legacy

Guys,

The Celtics franchise isn't dormant anymore.  We can't re-write history and change the Celtics teams that were put on the floor during the '90s and early '00s, but we've gotten ourselves back into the NBA elite in the last four years.  Now the trick is to stay there.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

True, the key is to stay at the elite level.

Now my feeling is that Dwight Howard is probably the next big star who will test the FA waters.

If all things are equal, meaning money and strength of pursuit...I think if Dwight were to choose between the Lakers or Celtics it would all depend on who he feels he has a better shot at winning the title.

Rondo or an aging Kobe Bryant?
