Do you agree with Rodman on this issue? At the end of the day, I think he just might be right in that the players will eventually have to give in. Thoughts?

It's a weird choice of words, especially in the context of the rest of his message:

Quote
“It’s not the players’ fault, it’s the owners’ fault and I think (the players) should give a little bit,” the Hall of Famer said. “And that way, things will move on.”

Giving a little bit to get a deal done isn't what I'd consider "bowing down".

That is an abbreviated article; here is the full: http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=8448
His comments make more sense when you read this one.

For maybe the first time in my life I actually agree with Rodman on something.  He says the owners gave in back in 1999 because they league was doing well financially then.  They were losing out on profits as games were missed.  Now the league is not doing well, and the players should be taking the cut.

I dont know, I kind of agree with him. The owners will always be greedy money hungry businessmen. They players are also acting like greedy money hungry business men and if they give in a little bit, it will show they are less greedy and that they actually want to play the game.

The players "standing up" and not playing shows to me that they care more about the money and less about the sport which to me is sad.

Have you ever owned a business?  I don't feel much like a greedy money hungry businessman because I want to be profitable....So perhaps, after being hosed by the government, I can feed myself and my family.  I pay my employees as competitively as I can.  But I, the greedy businessman, am the one taking all of the risk.  My employees take no risk at all.

This class envy stuff really sucks.  Those owners and players are trying to make a living just like you are.

Players have already given in a little.

Owners' demands have been outrageously ridiculous that any concessions they have made were pure fiction.

Which ones are ridiculous?

Really?  I have a great idea.

If the players want to receive 50+% of the profits....Maybe they ought to give back 50% of the loss out of their salaries when their team loses money.

Maybe certain "injured" players would actually play then instead of tweeting about how bad they want to help their teams.

The thing is, owners would jump at giving the players well more than 50% of the PROFITS.  But they want more than 50% of all revenue.

But either way, if you listen to both sides right now, it is clear that the split could be agreed upon.  Its the hard cap that is the "blood issue" for the players.  Which for the life of me, I can't understand, since they would be getting the money no matter what...the hard cap just ensures that there can be some competition, and that the great players can't all just congregate on 3 or 4 teams.
