LeBron James is keeping himself physically active as the NBA lockout continues to drag on, as he practiced in full pads with his former school at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary varsity football team.

LeBRon borrowed a uniform from 6-foot-5 player, Clayton Uecker, and proved who was the star of the team that day. There was a strict no-tackle rule set up while LeBron was on the field, but players were still able to make contact.

"Our defensive backs were allowed to jam him at the line of scrimmage," running back Sae'Von Fitzgerald said. "But he took no contact after that. Coach (Dan Borman) said we shouldn't tackle him."

Excited about his day on the field, LeBron tweeted: "Just got done practicing with the St.V Varsity football team, full pads and all. Felt great being back on the field. Should I?"

Do you think LeBron would be a success in the NFL?

He would without a doubt be an excellent receiver.

I always wanted to see Karl Malone suit up as a TE.
Yup

It would be fun to see him go across the middle and have Ray Lewis lay him out.

  • Rondo = Good
Lebron's career : MJ's career

as

LeBron's hypothetical football career : MJ's baseball career

In other words, Lebron would be even worse at football than MJ was at baseball.

I think Lebron would do better, if only because football is an easier game.  Lebron's elite athleticism and size would be enough to make him a very good football prospect.  That's not the case in baseball, which relies much more on hand-eye coordination and super-fast reflexes.

Assuming he played WR, his big issue would be route running.  That might keep him from becoming elite, but I think he's get by pretty well.

Physically he could do it.  Mentally I don't know.  The guy doesn't have a lot of clutch in him nor mental toughness.   Guys in the NFL would all have big physiques and he would have a huge target on his back.   I hope he does it and it would be nice to see him get hit by a Ray Lewis type and might even help his mental toughness.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

LeBron is continuing to stir up rumors of moving to the NFL, first by suiting up with his high school football team and now inquiring about NFL's free agency deadline with John Clayton.

LeBron's tweet spawned hundreds of tweets from fans, who were divided on whether he would fair well on the field, seeing as how the NBA is still tied up in the lockout.

Do you think LeBron would make it in the NFL?

Yeah, I can see it.  QB just throws the ball high and LeBron jumps for it like a dunk.  On the way down if he gets hit before touching the ground?  Automatic 15 yd penalty.  He'd probably get QB treatment as a WR/TE.

Someone ought to try him out. He's got the size for TE. ESPN can wonder out loud if he is the best TE ever before he takes a snap and call him something like "The chosen again". Bet you he'll get more NFL rings than NBA rings
