Not sure if anyone saw this posted on the site recently by another fan, but it's a very good trade idea.

Basically it's Rondo and W. Chanlder going to OKC, Jeff Green and Nate to Denver and R Westbrook to the Celtics.

A very fair trade I would jump on and benefits all three teams.

OKC gets a pass first point guard and a better 2/3 type player in Chandler to complement Harden and Sefalosha.

Denver gets Green and Nate to replace voids left by KMart and JR Smith.

Celts get a more offensive efficient point guard.

Rondo is a better PG then Westbrook for this team.

I also think he is just a better PG.

I would not make such a trade.

While Rondo is a better PG, I think Westbrook is going to be the better player, and is much better suited to be a #1 option going forward (which is what we are going to be looking for after 2012).

This trade also doesn't work, due to Chandler signing in China, but I would certainly consider trading Rondo for a guy like Westbrook AFTER next year.  Before the year, I think it would be punting the chance at another championship a bit.

Maybe PP/RA/KG were watching the playoffs together, decided that Durant looked like he was having fun standing around watching Westbrook shoot the Thunder out of games and decided they'd like to do the same next year.

I don't think you'll ever get far with Westbrook as your #1 option.

Maybe maybe not, but if Rondo is your #1 option, you will be at home watching Westbrook's team keep playing.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

I don't necessarily disagree with this.  But I think you would get further than you would with Rondo as your #1 option.

I am just saying, if you aren't able to get a Dwight Howard or someone like that, I would strongly consider building around a guy like Westbrook, who I think has a Derek Rose or even Dwayne Wade quality about him.

I am just not a huge fan of building around Rondo without bigger stars around him.

I think Rondo is a better NBA player.  I would not trade him for a lesser player (even if they are close) just because he was a better go to guy.

NBA teams can get "go to guys" without giving up a player that is better then the "go to guy"  It just tales longer to get the trade pieces to make it happen.

As much as I don't like bad season, I would rather a few of those then to trade away a better player that has enough time to build a team with.  (not necessarily around)

Or hold onto him until a better deal is available.

Fair enough.  I think I just think more highly of Westbrook.  I think he is miscast playing with Durant, and could be a potential superstar, or at least a second tier star if he had his own team.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Well, I consider Jeff Green and the Clippers Pick = to Kendrick Perkins right now. If we do this trade, we are losing Rajon Rondo and ~60% of Perkins for Westbrook.

I believe Rondo has more value with most teams in the NBA than Westbrook does. I'm not saying Rondo is a better player (Though he is), but in this trade, we shouldn't be the ones giving extra pieces. Imagine Westbrook in the Heat, Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Magic, Thunder, Mavs, Etc. Then imagine Rondo on those teams. Rondo w/ OKC is better than Westbrook w/ OKC. Everyone is talking about how Howard and Rondo would be one of the greatest defensive duos ever, but what about Perkins and Ibaka? Then add Durant/Harden/Maynor in and that's multiple championships.

I'd lightly consider this trade if we were getting Ibaka, Harden, other players from different teams, etc. (While not trading Jeff Green)
I like Marcus Smart

Maybe, but I want to see more before I would give up a player like Rondo and Green for him.  That is a huge price.

Now if it was Westbrook and something for Rondo and the rest of the Celtics stars were on the way out, I would be more interested.

TP, that's what I thought when I watched OKC in the playoffs.

You don't trade Rondo for any PG, unless it's Chris Paul, or MAYBE Deron Williams.

Westbrook will make Sportscenter every week, but Rondo is a real playmaker and the Celtics best player right now. If you brought Westbrook and he starts chucking all those shots, next step is trading Ray and maybe KG for some good young defensive studs.

While Westbrook is amazing, I'd rather keep Rondo.

Why wouldn't you just trade Green for Chandler instead?  That'd be a much better trade.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

1. Rondo is better than Westbrook
2. Chandler is in China
3. Chandler is a 3/4 not a 2/3
4. Green is a SF and not a defensive PF replacement
5. Green and Rondo is bad value for Westbrook
