Darius Miles, Michael Beasley, Kobe Bryant, and now...  Zach Randolph.  I'm shocked!

Quote
James Beasley, 26, told KGW News that he went to the West Linn home of former Portland Trail Blazer Zach Randolph to sell marijuana and when there was a disagreement over price, he was beat by men with a pool stick.

After Beasley told the same story to detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, they searched Randolph's home around 12:30 Sunday morning, police said Sunday.

Randolph, who is not considered a suspect, was home while the search took place, police said.
Beasley, who met with KGW along with his brother, suffered a concussion in the attack.

Link.

Yeah, yeah, I know he's not a suspect, but Randolph is playing with fire here.  This is the second time in a couple of years that he's been linked to drugs

At least it sounds like he has learned to let his entourage do the dirty work.  Now he just needs to figure out that they should probably not do that in his living room.

Or he just hangs out with the same sort of folks as he has in the past.

Im not saying it would be easy to do so, but these athletes have to cut ties with childhood friends if they cant grow up.

Too much money on the line to be associated with people who would beat anyone up with pool sticks.

Also...is the drug dealer really complaining to police about getting beaten up...at a drug deal????

Does that sound strange to anyone else?

That kept TA out of jail back in the day.

You know we could make this into one helluva game along the lines of the Deathlist, you know, that game where you have to pick the next celebrity to die.

We could call it the Knuckleheadlist and we all have to choose an NBA player that we think will show up in the media doing a stupid thing like something criminal or saying something really dumb or something like that.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

TP - good point. Obviously Randolph needs to watch himself fairly closely because of his sordid past, but this sounds a little sketchy. Also, the report says that police searched his house, but doesn't say whether or not they found anything. Either way, that drug dealer is kind of stupid.

As for the whole incident, I know marijuana is a drug and I don't use it, but the assault part seems like much more of an issue to me than the fact that he was apparently buying drugs. Heck, if he were in Massachusetts, that part would only bring with it a fine.

It might not be common but I don't think it's that rare. People call 911 when they think they didn't get the amount of drugs they paid for.

BBall is right. Criminals do stupid things.

Here is a true story that I can't tell you where it happened or how I came by the info but it is true.

Two men got into a fight started by this one guy over a bar seat. They take it outside where the guy that started the fight takes a decent beating and so runs to his car and proceeds to run over the guy he started the fight with and kills him.

Bleeding from the beating he took he goes to the hospital where they ask how his injuries occurred. he said he got into a motor vehicle accident in the next town over. The nurse tells him to go to that police station and report the accident because if they find the guy that he got in the accident with, his insurance company might be responsible for the bill.

So he goes to the police station, where they are already looking for him because someone reported his plates to the police and they ran them and found out that he fit the description of the man behind the wheel who murdered the bar patron. He goes in wanting to report a car accident and gives the cops his name and license plate number and says it occurred recently in the city and says it happened in front of the bar where he killed the guy.

Needless to say, they brought him into a room where within a few hours they had enough evidence against him that when he lawyered up, he was toast.

And you wonder why drug dealers call the police when they are beat up when drug deals go bad. Its simple. These people aren't too freaking bright.

Zach's name connected to drugs and assault.

hear say, innuendo, guilt by association...let the man be considered innocent before the proof arrives...and while waiting, Zach should hang out with more model citizens such as pierce, west, and perk.

 ;)

and yes, zach is still a knucklehead.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Wow, the lockout has got these guys so worried that ZBo has to resort to breaking pool sticks rather than overpaying for his bud.

If the next game of basketball is more than year away some of these guys are gonna find themselves in prison before then.

The NBA, where organized activity keeps men who grew up in less-than-desirable neighborhoods off the street and out of trouble.
