two things screwed up Rondo's game:  injuries and The Trade.  But Shaq, as always, tells a good story.

1. this is ridiculous.

2. I think it is strange that Shaq would put a story like this in his book, since he wasn't actually there.  Its not like there weren't a lot of other things he could have talked about first hand.

3. Even though the story is a bit much for my taste, I do buy into the idea behind it that Rondo is a very sensitive guy, and also someone who does let exterior things affect his game.  I am curious to see what the context of this story actually is, when the book comes out...

  • Rondo = Good
WHAT A FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP!

rabble rabble rabble

oh wait, i'm not a reactionary looking for any reason to pan the president.

phew!

I have a hard time believing that this is the cause of Rondo's production problems late in the season, even if it is true.  Rondo's not a guy who lacks for confidence, remember?  He thinks he's the best point guard in the league, and has held his head high despite struggles and trade rumors and plenty of other things in the past.

For once, I think we're giving Obama and his influence too much credit here.

It seemed to me that Rondo's jump shot had improved some and we know he's worked hard on it from reports and stuff.

Now imagine someone coming along and saying, "Hey you need to work on that shot." I would imagine it could hurt some feelings.

Its like this - Consider someone who might be very obese who has worked very hard losing weight. They may even lose over 100lbs and still be very large. Now someone comes along who might not know this and suggest they need to work on losing weight. Can you imagine how hurtful that would be after all the work they've done that the other person doesn't know about?

I understand the situations are a bit different but at the same time very similar.

Maybe he mentioned to Lebron about the 4th quarter right before the finals?

Great analogy.  And this wasn't just someone.

Possible, but his sense of timing is terrible. Especially given the Bulls epic collapses in their owns series.

Maybe he's actually German?
