I'd vote for a Belgian Trappist monk.  But if you're going modern and American you can't go wrong with New Belgium, Dogfish Head, Rogue, or probably a few others I'm forgetting.

Dogfish is kind of a new animal as far as 'far-reaching'.

Yuengling is a little too big and too limited for my tastes, but some would say they're a big time contributor to this new trend. I wouldn't, but some would.
