Question for the Suits(Pacers):

How do you guys view the whole "San Antonio dangles Tony Parker" scenario that played out near draft day? Was that an indication that George Hill was ready to assume TP's role?

Also, I know this is a deep team, but why so few minutes for Frye? I know he's not a huge favorite on this site due to his lack of defensive ability, but this is a guy that put up 13 and 7 last year, started 64 games, and logged over 30 minutes a night.  Could he not contribute more to this team?

I don't know how much I buy into those rumors, mostly because the pieces didn't add up. Wasn't the rumor something like Parker to the Kings for the 7th pick?

I mean, I just don't know where he's going to get those kind of minutes from: Marc and Z-Bo need about 35 minutes a night.

That leaves 26 minutes to back up the 4 and the 5 between him and Chuck Hayes.

I don't know how much we can cut into Hayes' numbers, because he's got a pretty solid game.

Question for other people: Do you think Frye should be getting more minutes

"The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon(June15th i think??), but the deal fell apart in the late stages. San Antonio was prepared to ship Tony Parker and the #29 pick to Portland in exchange for Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum and the #21 pick, but the trade died when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson somehow be included in the deal. Other players would have been included in the trade to make salaries work."

Yeah there were rumors around TOR and SAC as well.  Most of this arose after Parker had made comments that SA's window had closed on a championship run.

"At the start of the season I said this was our last chance," he said. "Tim and Gino (Manu Ginobili) are getting old. It's going to be tough to regenerate ourselves. We will always have a good team but we can no longer say that we're playing for a championship."

Size and muscle is your strength, so I wouldn't deviate from that with Frye. I'd have his mins kept to a bare minimum like you have.

I think its sound logic by the Spurs, though I still don't know if I believe that's all they needed for Parker.

This is exactly why, jgod.  Channing Frye is a very capable player and we believe would be able to perform well in extended minutes if either of Z-Bo/Gasol needed to sit for a night, but the Pawnee Pacers have an identity and we want to pound it down low as often as we can.  We want Z-Bo and Gasol each to see around 35 minutes per game and play a lot of that together.

We also have another very good big on the bench in Chuck Hayes who can play PF or C.  Right now, Hayes and Frye are both slated about 13 min per game, but this is flexible.  Against a team like Portland (Amare) or Philly (West), we expect Chuck Hayes to get more time to defend scoring bigs and grab rebounds.  Against a team like El Salvador or Sacramento, I'd expect Frye to see more playing time for the extra scoring you mention, since their strengths aren't bigs who can isolate on offense.

Thank you for the question

Better dressed in our press conference:

Rudy Gay or Paul George.

I think it's a real toss up

Upon further review, I think I give it to George. His cool is more effortless.

Perhaps the Central is TOO good that people are afraid to ask questions.
