McDyess was said to be retiring at the end of last season so what's the deal with that?
San Antonio and McDyess decided to leave the decision until the end of the lockout.

Word is that he will consider returning if the season is shortened considerably but won't be back if there is a full schedule on the books.

Until he is retired, he is not retired.

Like Wallace

Big Z

KG (because we all heard the talk of him retiring if the lockout goes the distance)

Therefor, I am going ahead with the fact that he is on an NBA roster.

And I expect Kanter to pass him on the depth chart before the end of the season.

“This is my last game,” said McDyess, 36. “I’m pretty definite on that. But this was not the way I wanted it to end.”

But you're right until the paper work is filed anything can happen.

Well, here's my team at this point. I obviously will be cutting someone or shortening my roster via trades, (if interested in anyone, please PM me), but this is pretty close. While I've been building for a Team of the Future, I know there are still some questions regarding the age of some of my players, so I've provided some video and extra info links for my Rookies, (who I have a great deal of faith in). Have at it ... and TP for all analysis ... good or bad. ;)

And I expect Kanter to pass him on the depth chart before the end of the season.

What do you expect out of Kanter this season? How many minutes are you mentally thinking he'll play, and what kind of #'s do you see him putting up?

For my team, about 15 minutes a game.  He likes to play physical.

You really think you should be asking for 15 minutes a game from a rookie on a contending team?

Im not trying to be a tool here cause I know thats against the rules, genuinely just curious, in recent memory what rookie has played that big of a role on a championship team?

Glen Davis averaged 13.6 minutes a game in the regular season the year the Celtics won the title.

He was a 2nd rounder.

How often do title contending teams get a top 3 pick?

True True, I didnt remember that was his rookie year but your right.  And this his playoff minutes dipped to 8 mpg.  Is he your primary backup for that position?

No.  Anderson is.  Aldridge will be playing alot of C.  Granger will get some minutes at PF.

So unless Kanter really blows up, he will likely be down to that 8 mpg in the playoffs as the minutes for Aldridge, Gasol, Granger and Battier likely increase.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
PG: Kyle Lowry
SG: James Harden
SF: Carlos Delfino
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire
C: Andrew Bogut

Heavy Rotation: Derrick Williams (SF/PF), Fransisco Garcia (SG/SF), Anthony Tolliver (PF/C)

10-15 mins: Ramon Sessions (PG/SG), Tiago Splitter (PF/C)

Bench: Jonas Jerebko (SF/PF), Patty Mills (PG), Marshon Brooks (SG)

That should be about it. I'd like to hear thoughts about the rotation setup as is. I'd like to get Sessions and Jerbko more involved, but I think with the skillset of my starters in mind, this is the best course of action.

Why Splitter over Jerebko? Seems like you have a real soft spot for Splitter - Jerebko is a proven NBA commodity that can play 2/3 positions.  Why does Splitter win this battle? I just don't see it.

I like the starters, but I think your heavy rotation bench players have alot to prove.  Why do you think they can handle this responsibility.  And what growing pains do you see for D-Will over this year?  Also how does a confident guy like D-will who says he sees himself as a superstar in this league handle coming off the bench?

Height. Splitter has 10+ lbs and 2-3 inches on Jerebko. He's my 4th true big.

Why do I think Fransisco Garcia and Anthony Tolliver can handle heavy minutes?

Because Garcia is 29 years old and had been playing for nearly 9,000 minutes on the NBA court, and Anthony Tolliver is 25 yrs old, and been playing for 20+ minutes per gave with very consistent results for the last 2 years.

Quote
And what growing pains do you see for D-Will over this year?  Also how does a confident guy like D-will who says he sees himself as a superstar in this league handle coming off the bench?

Growing Pains: I think he'll be prone to a dumb foul once and a while, a blown defensive assignment from time to time, and he'll have to figure out how to pace himself to finish out the NBA season.

Dealing with coming off the bench: He'll still end up seeing 28 minutes a night or so, and he'll be lectured on all the great sixth men of the league and what they've given to their teams, and I'll assure him that once he proves that he can defend NBA 3's as well as Carlos Delfino he can start, but not before then. He is a rookie, he'll be able to accept that.

EDIT: Also, Derrick Williams is not Michael Beasley. You're talking about a kid who came in as a basically unrecruited player to establish himself as the best player in college basketball within 2 yrs. He's shown a willingness to work on his game, his body, his leadership, his poise. He's not adverse to overcoming a challenge and he's not adverse to putting the work in to earn something. The thing he seems adverse to more than anything is just being handed crap, because it doesn't seem to happen much to him.
