My defense, his numbers dropped a bit in the regular season due to taking the second option role, injury (lowered his averages), and the emergence of Rose. He still put up 18 and 10. As for the play-offs, some was role, all the Bulls deferred to Rose, some was poor play but let's not forget he rebounded well despite some poor offensive games (something that's happened even to KG) and he did have some excellent scoring games versus both Atlanta and Miami.
Boozer's primary issues last year were injuries. He was injured early, and was injured late. It's no surprise, then, that his best months were in the middle of the season.
Also, like I argued to no avail last year, Carlos Boozer is actually a decent defender at center. That's why, career-wise, he's looked good even when matched up against Howard and Yao. When he gets to muscle other players, he excels. It's only when he plays against mobile power fowards that his defense becomes inferior.
A 20/10 guy who is capable of leading the league in FG% is pretty good value in the early second, in my mind. Again, he's going to struggle on defense at PF, but so will Amare, Love, and a whole host of other guys taken before him.
