offseason fun ;)

this is a game that once got me through an 11 hour car ride home with 2 strangers from the Boston area (we were doing it for the Red Sox, but the same principle applies)

name the most random, obscure player you can think of that you actually watched play for the Celtics (on TV or live) and say something about him (to prove you actually saw him play)

I'll start:

Ruben Wolkowyski - signed to a 10 day contract and was a big man injury replacement (don't remember for who) - I think the only thing I remember him doing of note was shooing a 3 pointer from the corner that missed badly

Incredibly this kid was celtics superstar for a couple of games
I had 13 by the time and was probably the start of the obscure days for the Cs
early in my life i was a diehard just as now
and it was tough watching brad leading celtics after reggie (crying)

Beat that

Oh I have many ...

Finkel ... the antithesis of Russell, but tough like Greg Kite, and that's about it ... great garbage time player
Siegfried ... he was the energy guy off the bench before the term was even created
Hambone Williams ... liked his afro, but I also was a big Slick Watts fan
Kuberski ... absolutely no talent, but I remember him starting for a while
Dominique ... could never get used to him wearing green
Pervis ... El Busto!
Wicks & Rowe ... quite possibly the worst brand name players in Celtic history

Player:  Thomas Hamilton
Contract:  10-day.

He was 7'3" and over 400 lbs with skilled hands/passing.  I watched him handidly back Shaq down (only player I've ever seen do this), only to be blocked while standing underneath the hoop b/c he had lousy lift.

My favorite play was a fast break where he came out of nowhere.  It was hilarious seeing the guards running, and then an enormous guy appear from the right of the screen.  He caught the ball and made a beautiful pass for an assist (I think).

As a I kid I didn't know that he was on a 10-day contract.  I managed to go to one of the next games with my face & arms painted green, and a big foam green hand with Hamilton's # on it (in white masking tape).  Oh how disappointed I was when Tom's last game was the one before I could have seen him in person.

Another random player was Marty Conlon.  He was just so goofy looking!

My guy is Eric Fernsten during the early Bird years. He was one of the players to show up at the KC Jones hoop camps I went to as a kid. I remember talking with him and he told me he dated the daughter of someone I knew. Watching him after that made me root for the guy for the few minutes he would actually get on the floor.

Edit: I meant to attach this photo, I think this is the same one he autographed for me. I'm sure I still have it somewhere. Not front and center on the mantle though :)

Bruno Sundov - He averaged like 10 + points one preseason. I got excited at a 7 footer who can shoot. But then again, it was Preseason.

Alan Ray - Was actually a pretty decent role player for that terrible 06-07 team.

Kevinn Pinkey - Well, he did score 15 points in his debut, right? and the two N's is original.

Anybody remember Stoijko Vrankovic?

10 years from now, we'll be having a thread like this about Chris Johnson or Lester Hudson.

Milt Palacio

*Sorry Jeff...just read the original post.  Milt was a guard, played a lot of minutes one year  and disappeared.  I only remember him, really, because I loved his name.

And yes, Roy...I remember Bags.  In fact he was one of my favorite point guards.  I remember that he always gave effort.  I think he was another of those "later in his career" Celtics and he had slowed down a lot.
