May seem like a case of "shooting the messenger when you don't like the message" but Bucher is probably the least clued in of any NBA insiders. I can't go much further than this, but I've been told that he lost the respect of many execs by publishing downright false information and rumors in the past.
From what I've gathered he's more connected with certain players "camps" than players or teams themselves.

So he ends up publishing what entourages feed him.
This just made me think that Bucher gets his insider info from guys like Turtle and Drama and so puts everything he claims in the proper perspective. LOL.

If Howard does leave Orlando only the Lakers could get them back front court assets. History tells us elite centers (Wilt/Kareem/Shaq) find their way to Hollywood. But if the incoming contracts are short term, and tradable, there might be room to woo him to Boston.

I can't read Howard's mind, but it seems to me that he sends out a lot of signals, which don't seem very conclusive.  With Rondo, the Cs should be an attractive destination for him.  Pair him with Rondo and he'll be winning scoring championships.

Pair him with Kobe and Pau and he'll be winning NBA championships.

I see no reason why he would want to go to Dallas over Boston or Chicago or Oklahoma City.

LA I can get because he seems like a goofball interested in becoming a star. The same goes for the Knicks.

The Nets I get. New arena in a new city. Great PG. Owner willing to spend.

But the rest of the ones he "knows" he's interested in make little sense. Dallas is old and has no great young talent. Neither does LA (Bynum would have to be traded for D12). I don't see a less complimentary trio than what NYK would trot out there. And there is no way they can afford him outright (Melo + Amar'e will be making a combined $40M in 2012) or have any trade assets that match.

The teams Bucher is eliminating, because he simply hasn't heard that Howard state he would go there, are all much better options for D12.

Personally I think the Nets are the best option for Dwight, with the Lakers as a somewhat distant second.  Deron Williams and Dwight would be a scary combination, and they'll have plenty of cap room left over to sign or trade for other guys to complement them.  Plus, of course, there's the new arena in NYC.

I don't care where Dwight Howard plays his basketball in the 2012-2013 season and beyond.

I just don't care.  If Danny's sitting around hoping for Dwight Howard as the only plan for the future, then he's doing a disservice to the organization.

I like the idea of New Jersey as a destination, though, because I always root for the Atlantic division to be competitive.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I really think the media and fans are underestimating the importance of us having Doc as a selling point.  That is I think players maybe (stupidly) underestimating this too.

Like I said in one of the other 300 threads about Dwight, I think if he hits FA, he's heading to Brooklyn.

If the Magic decide to trade him, then maybe the C's can get involved that way and I do believe he would sign an extension with us.

Honestly I don't think the Lakers should be as high of an option as people are putting them.  Kobe is past his prime and on the down swing of his career and I think that's going to hurt the Lakers.  Along with them losing Phil and having Mike Brown as their HC.

I don't believe that there is any realistic chance of Howard coming to the C's unless they trade for him (and he might just walk in 2012 if they do), but I also think I know as much about this as Ric Bucher who is consistently clueless on these things.

You got it backwards.  We have ZERO chance of trading for Howard because we don't have the assets.  And I think the chances of Howard coming as a FA are effectively zero.

So yeah, we ain't getting Howard.
