About 2min before our pick I had my fingures crossed.. sent out text messages. Brooks ain't fallin past us .. we are guna draft brooks!!!. Well we did and then we traded him. :'(
I'm done with the draft guna go cry myself to sleep.. very sad and gloomy right now I feel teased....................

Was extremely excited when they drafted brooks, definitely see him being a great scorer off the bench that we've been missing. Has more potential than JJohnson ,we're definitely gonna regret doing this trade. The only time D.Ainge went for need rather than the "best player left" and I hate it, a lot.

The Celtics decide to draft Sr. Jajuan Johnson from Purdue University in a trade for his rights and a future second round pick for our 25th pick, Marshon Brooks.

This is completely biased because I am a very big and proud Purdue fan, and have watched this young man from being benched as a freshman to dominating as a senior.

I completely love this guy. Great shot blocker, has post moves, and is explosive and very very athletic. Him and E'twaun Moore were one of the most explosive duos in the NCAA last year. I believe he will have jaws dropping in the future. He has a good mid range jumper and 3 point shot, and if I had to compare him to any NBA player, it would be non other than Mr. Kevin Garnett. And playing with him at the start of his career, I think he's going to be really good. KG can teach him so much, and in ways he is so similar to him.

At 6'10, he's at a good size to play PF in the league and has an amazing 7'2 wingspan and 8'10 reach, not to mention an outstanding 38 inch vertical. He has a very good basketball IQ, and can learn plays rather quickly. Below in the video, just look at his shooting touch. Truly smooth, considering he is a big. He can score from the outside to the inside, and possesses amazing athleticism. He needs to get stronger, though, to compete with the just as his soon-to-be nba peers. One of his other weaknesses are his not so solid low post game, which he could easily improve over time under KG's leadership.

Overall, I am really happy one of my favorite college players is going to the greatest team in the entire NBA. Thank you Danny Ainge and crew. Seriously, oh my goodness. If I was not a Celtics fan, I'd be one now that JJ is there.

Is there anybody who you think could have been a better choice in this draft? Any downsides I haven't listed? What do you all think of him? Will he be solid or break down?

7foot wingspan.. sg scorer off our bench.. can shoot from anywhere second best scorer in the draft. We fail to put up points we have no go to Guy on our bench.. our frickin goto guy is dwest And big headed davis.. I'm not knocking johnson he looks like a very good player.. I just think marshon was best available and the most potential

maybe being from RI, but i was dissapointed when we traded Marshon Brooks...I see him becoming a solid shooting guard

dont know much about Jajuan johnson...but he seems abit skinny...hopefully he can contribute some next year.

I really like this pick and I'm glad we traded Brooks. Brooks publicly announced that he did not want to play for the Celtics while he was at Providence and he plays no defense whatsoever. Johnson has solid offensive skills and is very quick off his feet with a 12 foot max reach. He also has deceptive strength since he managed 15 bench reps at the combine. He's also quick and agile and can run the floor very well. As a senior he has experience and he also earned a degree. Smart move by Ainge and this means that we can let Glen Davis walk who gave us no athleticism or rebounding.

umm if marshon was such a great player I think providence would have won a few more games the last couple of years (they have another guy that might get drafted from last years team in the second round). Also not sure why everyone talks about massive potential. He played in college multiple years and is 22...he scored a lot of points on a really high scoring team. It is why a fringe nba player can score 12 points a game with the warriors or knicks if given the minutes...

I like the pick because generally you don't land a kid who was player of the year and defensive player of the yr in his conference at 27. That, & the fact he got better each yr he played tells me he's prime and ready for Doc & KG.  Great value, and another 2nd added to the books.

The "best player available" that is. I agree at 25 we can't get much but in my opinion Brooks or Hamilton would have been the best option. Though Hamilton reminds me of Green, both of these guys can score, we can't rely on Davis, West and Green to be the scorers off the bench. We tried that last year and failed miserably. Happy that we got a big, but I just see Brooks being more successful long term.
