I thought it would be fun to redo the past drafts as of now.  I'm just focusing on the top ten, I have who I would take in the top ten with the original draft position.  This obviously does not account for the makeup of the team at the time nor slower development (i.e. a high school player that took awhile to develop like Jermaine O'Neal).

1995 Top ten
1. Kevin Garnett (5)
2. Rasheed Wallace (4)
3. Michael Finley (21)
4. Jerry Stackhouse (3)
5. Antonio McDyess (2)
6. Joe Smith (1)
7. Damon Stoudamire (7)
8. Brent Barry (15)
9. Kurt Thomas (10)
10. Corliss Williamson (13)
best value of the remaining - Eric Snow (43)

1996 Top ten
1. Kobe Bryant (13)
2. Allen Iverson (1)
3. Ray Allen (5)
4. Steve Nash (15)
5. Jermaine O'Neal (17)
6. Marcus Camby (2)
7. Antoine Walker (6)
8. Ben Wallace (undrafted)
9. Peja Stojakovic (14)
10. Stephon Marbury (4)/Shareef Abdur-Rahim (3) (I couldn't pick that one)
best value of the remaining - Derek Fisher (24), Zydrunas Ilgauskus (20), Erick Dampier (10)

1997 Top ten
1. Tim Duncan (1)
2. Tracy McGrady (9)
3. Chauncey Billups (3)
4. Keith Van Horn (2)
5. Stephen Jackson (42)
6. Tony Battie (5)
7. Tim Thomas (7)
8. Bobby Jackson (23)
9. Dereck Anderson (13)
10. Ron Mercer (6)
best value of the remaining - Mark Blount (54)

1998 Top ten
1. Dirk Nowitzki (9)
2. Paul Pierce (10)
3. Vince Careter (5)
4. Antawn Jamison (4)
5. Rashard Lewis (32)
6. Mike Bibby (2)
7. Cuttino Mobley (41)
8. Larry Hughes (8)
9. Al Harrington (25)
10. Ricky Davis (21)
best value of the remaining - Nazr Mohammed (29), Rafer Alston (39)

1999 Top ten
1. Elton Brand (1)
2. Manu Ginobli (57)
3. Lamar Odom (4)
4. Baron Davis (3)
5. Shawn Marion (9)
6. Richard Hamilton (7)
7. Ron Artest (16)
8. Jason Terry (10)
9. Andre Kirilenko (24)
10. Corey Maggette (13)
best value of the remaining - James Posey (18), Andre Miller (8), Wally Szczerbiak (6), Jeff Foster (21)

I found it interesting to see some of the value in the second round and at the end of the first, especially in presumed weaker drafts.  That 96 draft was absolutely loaded top to bottom.  I mean 13-17 of that draft was crazy with Kobe, Nash, Peja, JO (tony delk was 16).  I can't imagine there will be 4 players that good in that range in the same draft ever again.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Matrix should be the third pick in 1999.

Also, Rip should be 4th.

Matrix should be the third pick in 1999.
I put Matrix at 5 because he just hasn't been that good since he left Phoenix.  His defense has suffered and his stats have plummetted.  I could certainly see him at 3 though as I had all three of those guys very close (Rip as well).

Brand has had a better career then Manu, he just got stuck playing for the Clippers during his prime years.

Wow, what a telling study this is. You could have taken the best 5 picks out of 40 in the 20-29 range in those 4 years. THE BEST FIVE PICKS... and would have had Kirilenko, Michael Finley, Bobby Jackson, Al Harrington and Derek Fisher?

And here we are tearing our hair out over 10 different guys who probably will absolutely suck. In addition, i just started a thread saying Wyc should pay to move up to 20 AND buy an additional pick... to pick 2 guys with a very high chance of completely sucking... the joke is on us....
