Love and a #2 is a terrible deal for Minny.  I think that if this trade happens, it will be Flynn & the #2 pick and that trade would make sense for both teams.

LA upgrades its PG, gets younger, can use the pick to grab a big, maybe Kanter.

MIN gets more experienced, and frees up the PG spot for Rubio.  Now they have a line-up of Gasol, Love, Beasley, Johnson, Rubio.  Prob close to play-off caliber.

I disagree with it making sense for LA. Flynn hasn't shown much promise and Kanter (or anyone at the #2 pick) isn't a sure thing. Not a great use of one of Kobe's last years.

Well, if we are talking about a trade involving Gasol to Minnesota, what other options are there?  I think Beasley and obviously Love are staying put, and that either of them and the #2 pick is too much for a 31 year old.  I don't see a lot of point guards available in free agency, and Flynn yes I agree he's not very good but he makes them younger and at this point is prob an upgrade from Fisher or Blake......

Another option would possibly be trying to send Gasol to CLE for Baron Davis and the #4 pick..... interested to hear your thoughts on this one since I haven't heard anyone discuss it.....

Flynn is only a slight upgrade over Derek Fisher, which is sad in and of itself. Not worth it to give up their size advantage.

I still disagree. If I'm running that team I'd rather Fish run my team.

actually it wouldn't be that bad for Minny, they need a veteran, and Gasol provide experience, leadership and possible bait for Rubio to come to Minny finally

I see the appeal for LA, but not so much for Minnesota.  They'd be trading away their most marketable player + a draft pick that could turn into a legit impact player for a very good but aging PF.

That's the type of move that a team makes when they're on the cusp on contention, not when they're one of the bottom three teams in the league.

It could also be a marketing move for them. Gasol and Rubio on one team could really increase interest for them.

A potential marketing move on both sides since Kevin Love was pretty well liked at UCLA.

Absolutely -- Fisher > Flynn + S.Blake > J.Flynn

Shannon Brown is a more useful PG than Flynn too so long as he is used in a role that decentralizes the PG responsibilities. Like what they had with the Triangle offense. LA should still be able to achieve that post-Triangle with passing big men like Pau + Lamar and a top playmaking wing in Kobe Bryant.

I don't think there is any truth to this rumour whatsoever. I wouldn't pay it any heed.

Love and the #2 pick is too much value for Gasol. This would be a steal for the Lakers.

One thing I'll say about Minny trading away Kevin Love is that if they have any plans to trade him ever, now is the time.  His trade value is never going to be higher than now.  He is 22 years old, just put up 20 and 15 and broke Moses Malone's double double record.  You sell him on having done that at only age 22, but in reality he'll be extremely lucky to have 2 more seasons of stats like that in his entire career.  The reason Love put up those kind of stats is because he had a garbage team around him.  He is not talented enough to put up those stats on a team talented enough to be over .500.

Maybe Kahn realizes this and is why he's looking to swing a deal involving Love while his value is so high.

I'm not sure the Spanish population in Minnesota is that big, though. ;)

I think that a young, unique guy like Love is going to win more fans than Gasol.  If nothing else, Love dominates statistically.

I agree and I am not even sure Minny would do Pau for Love, straight up - nevermind the super-high draft pick. They aren't going anywhere for years, why trade easily your best [young] player for an aging star? It just doesn't seem to make any sense. But, of course if I am LA, and the deal is offered to me, of course I jump all over it.

Is there any evidence that Minny isn't happy with Love?
