Kaman Talk on ESPN Boston Question

Here is my question, couldn't we pair Big Baby with Sheed's expiring deal to make the salaries match up?  They would get a player, a pick, and get rid of Kaman which seems to be their goal, we would get a legitimate starting center and rid ourselves of Beezy F Baby which would allow J Green to spend more time @ the 4 which he clearly seems more comfortable playing.  I think this deal and a decent MLE pick-up like JR Smith or someone like that makes us a contender if not a favorite...........

No we Sheed out so we can't trade his contract. Our only chance at Kaman is if they wanted Baby and we packaged him with JO, however this would leave us just as thin up front. The other possibility if there is a salary amnesty and the Clippers cut him without salary cap repercussions.

Sheed is retired.  We cannot trade him anymore.  

I do think Kaman is a legitimate target for the C's though.  The problem is, it would almost certainly cost them Jeff Green.  

But, if the C's decide Green is not their guy, I could see them put together a deal based around Green for Kaman, possibly also adding in someone like JO, or a resigned Davis, and getting back a guy like Randy Foye (a former Danny favorite) in return.

So, just to throw out some numbers:

Boston trades Jeff Green (contract starting at $8 million) and Big Baby (Contract starting at 4.25 million) for Kaman and Randy Foye.

Then, they use the MLE to go after someone like Tayshaun Prince, and the LLE to sign a backup PF.

Oh, ok, I never read about the Sheed buyout.  Hoopshype still has that contract on their salaries page, so that's why I asked if we still that that contract or not.

It is a moot point, but I do think that would be a trade that LAC would at the very least consider however.  They want to dump Kaman, and even though BBD is not the ideal fit considering their roster, having a vet who has been to the playoffs might not be the worst thing for a young team.  Also, I am sure they would be very excited to get that 2012 pick back, especially since if I am not mistaken it would then become unprotected........

I'm down for this from a celtics standpoint.  I feel that LAC would be also (aside from BBD being overpaid).

Use the MLE to sign Carl Landry, the LLE to sign a backup SF (Marquis?), and bring back Wafer as a backup SG.  Also bring back West as a backup PG.  I'd be very satisfied with that kind of offseason.  Round off the roster with Avery Bradley, Chris Johnson if possible, 2 draft picks, and any other player.

If we cant afford Perkins at 7 or 8 mil a year we definitely cant afford Kaman at 12.7.

Plus Kaman would be coming on a price reduction if we re-signed him after next season
